Background

Diya was raised as an Isu princess in the High Tower, isolated from ordinary life and never given a formal education in sorcery or survival. She learned elegant arts such as painting, music, and piano, but acquired her practical knowledge only after entering the Void Realm, reading Sorcerer’s Manuals, and consuming Experience Pearls. 205

Her imprisonment and loneliness led her to create—or awaken—the personalities she calls her Sisters. White Queen, Black Butler, and Red Death were summoned during her most painful and isolated period, while Liss/Sleeping Beauty is the personality recognized by the Gospel God as the true Isu Princess. Diya and Sleeping Beauty cannot remain active at the same time. 341 1199

After escaping the High Tower through the Bronze Dragon’s power, Diya sought to erase her past and exploit a loophole in the Weaving Festival. Her goal was to become an Echoer, seize God Lord’s Wish, and escape the fate her grandmother had arranged for her. Circumstances instead brought her into Annan’s orbit and made her a pawn in the Funeral Agency’s plans. 205 377

Diya later learned that the Armor Ceremony of Sanctification was intended to remake her as the God of Humanity. Rather than submit, she pursued the Omniscient Weaver’s wish and eventually accepted the burden of becoming Gospel Country’s Empress, prioritizing the nation’s stability over her own desire for freedom. 377 665

Appearance

Diya’s appearance changes with the personality or mode currently active. In the Void Realm, her usual Witch form has snow-white hair, glasses, dark-red lips, a sparkling white off-shoulder dress, and white silk stockings. 213

  • Her face is shared by several sister-personalities despite their differing hair colors, clothing, ages, and demeanors. 306
  • Thousand Transformations causes her hair to cycle through many colors before settling into a muddy dark red. 219
  • She can appear as a white-haired little girl associated with Liss, or as a black-haired young woman associated with her adult Witch identity. 811 848
  • Her emotional instability is often visible through disordered, paint-like multicolored hair and mismatched clothing. 303

Personality

Diya is initially socially inexperienced, earnest, and easily flustered. She is frank enough to reveal her Sisters almost immediately after being questioned, yet she genuinely wants acceptance for every part of herself. 237 Her lack of conventional social experience comes from isolation rather than indifference; she actively tries to learn how to communicate, make friends, and understand romance. 235 460

Beneath her cheerful manner is a highly pragmatic and ambitious planner. She deliberately arranged to erase her past, sought a route to God Lord’s Wish, and viewed becoming Annan’s pawn as an opportunity rather than merely a misfortune. 205 As Empress, she can be calculating and secretive when protecting Ash, Gospel, or her own long-term plans. 811

Diya is deeply attached to her Sisters and fears abandonment. Her stated dream is not power, but to “live happily ever after” with them. 240 She retains a strong moral hesitation toward harming others for advancement, even when allies argue that killing is a necessary part of an artificer’s path. 665 1277

Abilities & Skills

Personality Fission

Diya possesses multiple personalities that act as a coordinated sisterhood rather than a strict hierarchy. They share knowledge, can communicate internally, and can switch control when a different temperament or specialty is needed. 232 237

  • White Queen — dignified, composed, and suited to communication and analysis. 237
  • Black Butler — calm and practical; assists with planning and Miracle development. 237 848
  • Red Death — sharp, combative, and drawn to high-level battle. 237 240
  • Liss / Little Witch — childlike, affectionate, and associated with the public identity of Lysithea. 505 763
  • Limitation: losing her memories or enduring severe emotional pressure can destabilize the Sisters’ cooperation and leave Diya overwhelmed by conflicting voices. 303 305

Mask Remodeling: Thousand Transformations

Using the Mask Spell Spirit, Diya can enter Thousand Transformations, changing her personality state and outward appearance to handle manuals and situations outside her usual preferences. 219

  • Enables her to read many Sorcerer’s Manuals that would otherwise be incompatible with her values or temperament. 219
  • Her natural Sorcerer’s Manual reading success rate is approximately 80%. 219
  • The transformation visibly alters her hair into a shifting spectrum of colors. 219

Time and Water Life Thread

Diya’s primary combat style combines Time, Water Art, and Fist Claw techniques. She excels at control, interference, exploiting openings, and finishing enemies after Sonia or Ash create an advantage. 216 545

  • Water Life Thread — Creates threads that can bind, pull, restrain, heal, or strike vital points. Diya used it with Entangle to kill White Raptors by tightening threads around exposed weak points. 216
  • Rescue utility — Used Water Life Thread to pull Ash and Sonia from the Gilded River after they nearly drowned. 401
  • Eyewitness — Allows her Miracles to strike along her line of sight, including manifesting Water Life Thread directly from an enemy’s body. 547
  • Soul Suppression — Suppresses soul bodies with dizziness, blindness, sluggishness, and impaired thought. 547
  • Void Slicing — Lets her cut through a Saint Domain, giving her a way to rapidly subdue Saint Domain Artificer Projections. 547
  • Chiming Bronze Dragon — Can halt time within her Saint Domain by creating a “Gilded Well” that absorbs local motion in the form of Gilded River Water. 832

Sorcerer’s Manual Learning

Despite beginning without systematic schooling, Diya became a practical combat artificer through extensive self-directed study in the Void Realm. She spent two years in the Sea of Knowledge and read more than forty Sorcerer’s Manuals before reaching the Time Continent. 219

  • Acquired skills including Financial Analysis, Political Power, Human Anatomy Analysis, Social Ecology Research, Expression Management, Hydraulic Engineering Research, Cryptography, and Love Hunting. 461
  • Applies fighting-game concepts such as visual confirmation, countering, and opening creation to real combat. 257
  • Uses her Sisters’ shared thought capacity to research tactics, construct Miracles, and manage multiple tasks. 381 848

Gospel and Fairy Tale Authority

Diya bears extraordinary Gospel-related power, including the Gospel God, Soul Summoning Spell Spirit, and Secret Incarnation. The Bell Listener Angel concealed these within a Fairy Tale Spell Spirit to prevent Ash from detecting them. 511 513

  • Can use the Gospel God in a limited capacity for prophecy and strategic planning. 812
  • Received the God of Fairy Tale, which paints a separate fairy-tale layer over the battlefield. 1008 1009
  • Within the fairy-tale world, hostile shadows can be transformed into harmless animals such as rabbits, birds, and chicks until their countdown expires. 1009

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Mask Spell Spirit — Supports Personality Fission and Thousand Transformations. 219
  • Soul Summoning Spell Spirit — Granted Diya the Star Sword Witch unit type, including weightless armor, twin thrusting swords, and enhanced mobility. 248
  • Ogre Gloves — Chosen to support the strength requirements of her Water Life Thread combat system. 547
  • Suspended Puppet — Prevents enemies from overpowering her threads through brute force during prolonged kinetic struggles. 592
  • Empress in the Rain — A custom Void Realm outfit from Ash that increases her Water Art Miracle effects by 50% when used in rain. 564
  • Fairy Tale Spell Spirit — Conceals her most dangerous Gospel-related Spell Spirits inside a miniature inner world. 511

Relationships

  • Ash / Watcher — Her Void Realm teammate, protector, and eventual sweetheart. Diya initially knows him only as the Watcher, later recognizes his connection to Ash, and comes to value him as both her “Knight” and someone she wants to remain beside. 209 304 920
  • Sonia / Sword Maiden — Teammate, close friend, and romantic rival for Ash’s affection. Their relationship develops from distrust and jealousy into an agreement to preserve both their friendship and their shared bond with Ash. 213 610 832
  • White Queen, Black Butler, and Red Death — Diya’s Elder Sisters and fellow personalities. They provide analysis, tactical support, emotional protection, and alternate approaches to problems Diya cannot handle alone. 237 341
  • Liss / Sleeping Beauty — Her younger shared-body counterpart and the personality recognized as the true Isu Princess by the Gospel God. Diya’s existence as the Secret Princess alternates with Sleeping Beauty’s. 763 1199
  • Annan — Initially Diya’s captor and the person who made her a pawn, but also the blasphemer whose goals gave Diya a route toward God Lord’s Wish. 205
  • Grandmother — The force behind the Armor Ceremony of Sanctification and Diya’s intended transformation into the God of Humanity. Diya resists her control. 377
  • Nina — Diya’s fellow Sinful Twin, who bore pain while Diya bore sin. Diya seeks a way to cancel the Unfated List and save her. 456
  • Vishy — Initially one of Diya’s most contentious allies, but eventually accepted by Diya as part of the team after Vishy proves herself in battle. Their later relationship develops into an unlikely friendship. 1173 1285
