The convoy sped along the highway, the headlights tearing through the darkness like butcher's blades. Star Country's energy system seemed to have something to do with the Sky Curtain; each speck of starlight carried tremendous power, bringing light and motive force to the land. But real starlight had no such might. Now everything within the horizon had gone dark, and the standing lampposts looked like silent tombstones.
From today onward, Star Country's energy system would be rebuilt. Arcanists who could no longer rely on the false Starry Sky would have to rely on themselves. And that was only the most insignificant effect. In the past, because of the Sky Curtain's convenience, the Meteorology Office had adjusted all kinds of weather with almost no difficulty. But now that the Sky Curtain had shattered, Agricultural Towns bathed forever in light and Industrial Cities locked forever in dark night could no longer be reproduced. Multistar Artificers would have to face the challenge of natural climates.
Inside the sports car at the center of the convoy, Ash had finished telling the story a while ago. He poured everyone a glass of champagne. Felix drove very steadily, and not a drop of champagne spilled.
"Star Law Master... the Multistar Supreme really invited you?" Vesir broke the silence. "When I think that the person I like almost became the Multistar Supreme's partner, I suddenly feel like I got a bargain."
"She only wanted to eliminate every hidden danger," Ash said calmly. "To her, even a partner was a chip she could pay. For an arcanist like her, who pursued power to the point of madness, feelings had long since stopped being a factor she considered... just like Vishy."
"No wonder the Pillar Gods called themselves that. So they really were pillars that once supported the world."
