Mu Yi's complete indifference left the three burly men exchanging glances, each seeing a trace of awkwardness in the others' eyes.
After a moment, one of them gave two tactical coughs, then turned to Mu Yi and barked, "Kid, hand over everything valuable!"
Mu Yi finished washing his hands and shook off the droplets before finally deigning to glance at them.
Seeing them blocking the doorway completely, he muttered, "Three dogs guarding one toilet door. Must be the highlight of your guard-dog careers."
"What the hell are you babbling about?" The man who had spoken first, displeased by his unhurried attitude, threatened him viciously again.
"While we're still willing to ask nicely, you'd better wise up and hand over your money!"
Mu Yi leaned against the sink and replied leisurely, "While you're still able to talk to me, leave your valuables and get lost."
Zhong Xuezhi had told him not to fight in the city. He hoped they would have enough sense to spare him the trouble.
But at his words, all three men threw their heads back and burst out laughing.
"Hahahahaha!"
In all their years in this line of work, the three brothers had never encountered someone trying to rob them back.
And the best part was that he was an ordinary person without any abilities.
Still laughing, they slowly approached, finally stopping three steps away from Mu Yi.
"Kid, you've got some nerve." The only Mutant among them wiped tears of laughter from the corners of his eyes.
With that, he stepped out into a firm horse stance, then strained for several seconds as though he were constipated.
Once he finished straining, his formerly loose clothes suddenly stretched taut.
Mu Yi leaned forward slightly and looked him up and down.
The man's muscles had swelled instantly, their sharply defined contours making him look like a rock monster wearing human skin.
Having finished his inspection, Mu Yi smacked his lips, suddenly losing interest.
With all that swagger, I thought he had something impressive up his sleeve. Turns out he's just a weak little loser with a strength-type talent.
His transformation complete, the little loser asked, his face flushed, "See that? I'm a Mutant!"
Mu Yi laughed twice, genuinely amused, then said, "I see. A Mutant who can't get into the Alliance and whom no Freelance Hunting Team will take."
He only dared show off in front of ordinary people.
Mu Yi always knew exactly where to poke someone's sore spots. The flush instantly drained from the Mutant's face, replaced by a darkness like the bottom of a scorched pot.
"Fuck..." Gritting his teeth, he waved a hand at the two behind him. "You two stay out of this. Let him get a taste of what I can do!"
"Don't." Mu Yi disagreed. "Just come at me together. I'm in a hurry."
There were still so many places in Crystal City he hadn't explored.
His words made all three men burst out laughing again at his ignorance of the danger.
"Hahaha! Together?" The Mutant made a pinching gesture with two fingers. "I could crush you with just two fingers!"
"Oh?" A streak of electricity suddenly crackled from Mu Yi's body. "You're that impressive?"
The flash of electricity unleashed a thunderous roar, freezing all three laughing men in place and cutting their laughter short.
Then they erupted into panic all at once.
"A-a-a Variant! He's a Variant!!"
"A Variant's invaded!!"
"Run-!"
The three men snapped out of their momentary paralysis and scrambled toward the restroom door.
Mu Yi grinned and flicked out a net of electricity, dragging all three back.
"Don't run. Let's chat some more."
The three brothers caught in the electric net had no desire to chat. Terror filled their faces as they opened their mouths to scream for help.
Before they could, Mu Yi swept out his long leg and kicked all three, making them bite their tongues until their mouths filled with blood.
"I can't stand dogs barking. Watch your mouths."
The unmistakable threat of being silenced for good made all three immediately clap their hands over their mouths, huddling together and trembling.
Mu Yi looked down at them, too disgusted even to bother calling them cowards, and got straight to the point.
"Move it. Empty your pockets, valuable or not."
The three looked up in a daze, then frantically began fumbling all over themselves.
In the end, sixteen Storage Bags lay at Mu Yi's feet.
The Mutant mustered his courage and said, "B-boss, that's everything."
Mu Yi glanced over them. The sixteen Storage Bags came in at least seven or eight styles, clearly stolen from other unlucky victims.
Without the slightest pang of conscience, Mu Yi crouched and opened each bag to take a look.
Nearly half of the sixteen Storage Bags contained energy shard crystals ranging from grade F to B. The rest held medicines, crafting materials, and other items.
"Pretty loaded." Mu Yi offered a mild compliment, then looked up at them again. "What about the gold in your Identity Bracelets? Hand that over too."
The three brothers' faces fell.
But to secure a chance of survival, they dared not refuse and painfully activated their Identity Bracelets.
Seeing them dawdle, Mu Yi impatiently kicked one of them. "Hurry it up."
"When you rob other people, do you ever leave them a single coin?"
"Now that it's your turn, it hurts?"
The three brothers shuddered at his kick and hurried to access their little nest eggs.
Several dozen seconds later, notifications confirming successful transactions appeared on both sides' Identity Bracelet projection screens.
Mu Yi's eyebrows shot up at the amount they had transferred. "Not bad. Business has been good."
He had received 996,000 gold in total. Together with the 8,888 he had earned from trading with the little old man, that brought him to just over a million.
Nice. Today really is a good day.
Thoroughly satisfied, Mu Yi closed his Identity Bracelet's projection, then ordered the Mutant to take off his jacket and use it to bundle up the sixteen Storage Bags.
Robbed clean, the three didn't dare utter a peep. They could only gaze pleadingly at Mu Yi as he stood up.
Mu Yi read thirty percent apprehension and seventy percent despair in their eyes. With a wicked chuckle, he summoned a crackling mass of electricity in one hand.
The despair in the brothers' eyes immediately reached one hundred percent, and they began sobbing and babbling pleas for mercy.
"Boss! Sir! Spare us! Please spare us!"
"Sir, give us a chance to live! We'll leave Crystal City right away and never tell anyone where you are!"
Unmoved, Mu Yi slowly raised the hand holding the electricity.
"Sir!" The Mutant crawled forward a few steps on all fours and said urgently, "D-don't you like infecting people?"
"Let me go, and I'll take you to the most crowded places in the city!"
"Yes, yes!" Another man chimed in. "The biggest theater is nearby, and there's a nursery too. We'll take you there!"
"Ha... You really are..." Mu Yi suddenly laughed, the electricity in his hand churning with a faint hum.
He had only intended to erase the relevant memories from the three brothers' minds, but now...
Mu Yi slammed his hand downward, sending a suddenly intensified current straight into their bodies.
Amid the crackling, the three brothers, their faces streaming with tears and snot, convulsed violently, then went rigid before collapsing one after another.
Mu Yi changed his mind on the spot and fried their brains into useless ornaments.
They were so stupid anyway that having brains did them no good.
Mu Yi picked up the cloth bundle, stepped over them, and kicked aside the obstacle at the door before swaggering out of the public restroom.
After walking some distance, Mu Yi took several deep breaths. "Ah, the air outside really is fresh."
His bountiful haul had put him in a good mood, and he wandered leisurely into a nearby park.
But barely a few steps into the park, he caught sight of a familiar figure.
Thin, lanky, with a face like a corpse.
Isn't that Team 403's healer?
At that moment, Team 403's healer stood beneath a towering banyan tree, craning his neck to stare up at something.
Mu Yi narrowed his eyes. He couldn't tell what the man was looking at, but he could see the aura of death around him...
It seemed thicker than when they had first met.
