Diancie, the Jewel Pokémon, landed lightly, the pink diamonds adorning its body refracting the lights.
"Espeon against Diancie!"
"Both excel at status moves!"
Lance nodded and added, "Whether it's Li Wei's Diancie or Red's Espeon,
"Both have access to status moves such as Trick Room and Skill Swap. It all comes down to their choices."
"The battle continues!"
Both sides issued their commands almost simultaneously.
"Diancie, Stealth Rock!"
Li Wei chose to set up for later.
Diancie raised both hands high. Countless sharp rocks silently scattered through the air and across the ground on Red's half of the field, then turned invisible, creating a dangerous trap zone.
This meant that any Pokémon Red switched in afterward would take damage from Stealth Rock.
In particular, Pokémon weak to it, such as Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, would take even more damage from Stealth Rock.
"Espeon, Calm Mind."
Red opened by strengthening his Pokémon instead.
Espeon closed its eyes and focused.
Stealth Rock had no direct effect on a Pokémon already on the field,
So it concentrated on gathering power.
Li Wei attacked first.
"Moonblast!"
Diancie raised its arms high again, and a beam of pink light descended from above, striking Espeon.
"Psychic."
Espeon met it with powerful psychic force.
The two masses of pink energy collided in midair, bursting into a pink halo.
Psychic was astonishingly powerful after the Calm Mind boost,
But Diancie's Moonblast exceeded everyone's expectations, matching Psychic evenly!
"Last Resort!"
