Blackthorn City, the Dragon's Den.
After reading Professor Magnolia's papers on Dynamax energy,
Professor Rowan speculated, "Energy may be the key variable. Some special form of energy that no longer exists today may have been present in the ancient environment."
Professor Elm, whose research focused on Pokémon breeding and Egg Groups, was operating a scanner,
taking remote samples from the Giant Dragonite sleeping like a small mountain in the nearby Artificial Lake.
"The stability of this genetic sequence... unbelievable."
Bill's attention was entirely on the displays of several precision instruments, where complex energy waveforms flickered.
Bill looked at Sonia and asked, "How does it compare to Dynamax in the Galar Region?"
Sonia pondered for a long time, carefully comparing the energy waveform charts. "Some frequency bands resemble the Dynamax energy waves recorded in Galar, but... they're different!"
Dynamax involved an infusion of energy. Although the resulting form looked enormous, it was entirely an aggregation of energy.
Yet the Giant Dragonite's energy waveform was completely different.
Unlike Professor Oak and the others, Professor Carolina did not have instrument readings spread out before her,
but rather several rubbings of stone tablets and yellowed parchment scrolls depicting hazy images of Ancient Pokémon.
They showed the ancient Gengar and Alakazam that had destroyed the Pokémonia Civilization, the Jigglypuff that had protected everything, and scenes of ritual worship.
Wearing reading glasses, Professor Carolina slowly traced her finger over an obscure passage from a myth.
The giant forms were no gift from heaven, but a surge of the earth's veins, the essence of living beings.
This was how ancient people had envisioned Ancient Pokémon.
If that interpretation held true,
then it was entirely different from Galar's legends, which described Dynamax power as bestowed by the "Darkest Day."
One arose from the earth and life itself,
