Dawn had made it back to Twinleaf Town safely the night before.
Although Li Wei had reminded Dawn to get up early,
the unexpected happened, just as expected.
With sunlight already shining on her face, Dawn jolted upright as though roused from her deathbed, only to pull the covers back over herself.
Beside her bed sat a pale blue Pokémon Egg in a Portable Incubator.
Today was the day Dawn would set off to receive her Starter Pokémon and embark on a journey with her new Pokémon partner.
Still, this was only Dawn's last-ditch resistance.
Too excited about receiving her Starter Pokémon, she sprang out of bed anyway.
"Dawn, are you ready?"
"All ready! Good morning, Mom!"
Dawn had packed all her luggage before June 5.
"Make sure you keep the egg safe in your backpack."
"No problem, no problem!"
Still worried, Saiko asked again, "Oh, did you remember to bring the postcard from Professor Rowan's institute?"
"No problem, no problem!"
After taking a sip of hot milk, Dawn pulled the Rowan Research Institute postcard from her pocket.
On the other side of the postcard were brief descriptions of the three Starter Pokémon, along with the Rowan Research Institute's exact location.
Although some institutes offered a wider assortment of Starter Pokémon, the Rowan Research Institute offered only three:
Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig.
"Have you decided which Starter Pokémon to choose?"
Dawn studied the postcard for a long time.
"Hmm... I haven't decided yet."
After the wildfire, Dawn was leaning toward the Water-type Piplup, but she had yet to make a firm decision.
"It's fine! I believe I can become the best of partners with whichever Pokémon I choose!"
