On the evening of November 9,
at the lakeside resort on Lake Valor.
The Grand Festival, which Dawn had dreamed of ever since setting out on her journey, would be held at Lake Valor's lakeside resort.
Beside Lake Valor, the lakeside arena buzzed with voices.
Enormous curtains of water and dazzling lights
lit up the night sky as brightly as day.
Moves occasionally shot into the sky, clearly in preparation for tomorrow's first qualifying round.
Sinnoh Region's premier gathering of Coordinators-the Grand Festival-was about to take place here.
Coordinators from all over had gathered,

In Dawn's debut contest, she had lost to Zoey's Glameow, learning a valuable lesson.
Then there was Mr. Nando, the bard who competed in both Pokémon League tournaments and Pokémon Contests.
Nando seemed unremarkable, but his moves were wonderfully elegant, with a beautiful, moving musical quality.
Dawn considered Mr. Nando a formidable rival, too.
And there was Kenny, her friend since childhood.
Kenny's Empoleon and Floatzel posed a considerable threat to Dawn as well.
There was also the unconventional Dulce Jessie Lina.
Some judges disliked her style, but Dawn acknowledged Dulce Jessie Lina's strength.
After all, Dulce Jessie Lina had also earned five Ribbons to qualify for the Grand Festival.
Then there was Ursula, whom she had clashed with at the last Pokémon Contest in Olivine Town.
Although Dawn really disliked Ursula, she had to admit that she was another formidable rival.
Before the competition, Dawn worked hard to gather information on her opponents, hoping to take the title.
