With Meloetta playing the Eon Flute, Li Wei successfully summoned Latias and Latios.
Li Wei expressed his wish to battle them,
to prove their sincerity to one another and show that he had what it took to catch them.
Latios and Latias accepted the challenge.
The battle was completely one-sided.
Latios misjudged Dark Void's speed right from the start, fell asleep, and began having nightmares.
Latias clearly had little experience fighting Dark-type Pokémon, opening with a Psychic that had no effect.
If the gap in their levels had been large enough, Psychic might have had some slight effect.
But...
between Darkrai and Latias,
Darkrai was clearly the stronger one.
Meanwhile, Latios, who had fallen asleep after being hit by Dark Void, jolted awake.
He had clearly suffered some kind of nightmare.
Though he had woken up, the nightmare had left Latios feeling awful.
Cold sweat beaded on his forehead as he panted for breath. He had clearly lost a tremendous amount of stamina.
Just then,
Li Wei gave Darkrai another command.
"Darkrai, Dark Void!"
Darkrai raised both hands high,
formed a deep, dark ball of energy, and hurled it straight at Latias while Latios was still reeling.
Latias hurriedly dodged, but Dark Void's range and speed exceeded her expectations, and its edge grazed her.
An overwhelming drowsiness struck her instantly. Latias struggled, swaying a few times in midair, before finally falling asleep.
Having suffered a nightmare after being hit by Dark Void, Latios knew all too well how terrifying the experience was.
So when he saw his little sister Latias get hit by Dark Void, Latios opened his mouth and fired a Dragon Breath.
Clearly, Latios had experience fighting Dark types and was not as naïve as Latias.
Li Wei called out, "Dark Pulse, intercept it!"
