Infernape, Arcanine, and Magmortar.
All Fire types, without exception.
Judging by Flint's previous battle against Cynthia, he did not exclusively use Fire-type Pokémon.
Li Wei had also seen his Steelix, Drifblim, Lopunny, Electivire, Jolteon, and other Pokémon.
Clearly, Electivire and Jolteon were there to counter Water-type Pokémon.
Li Wei had originally been rather worried that Flint would bring Steelix, which had a fourfold type advantage against Diancie.
Yet neither Electivire nor any of those other Pokémon had made the roster, which surprised Li Wei somewhat.
Was Flint planning a fiery showdown? Or had he decided to strategically concede this match?
That was perfectly normal in a long points-based competition, though doing so right at the start was a little early.
Infernape went without saying. As Flint's ace, it was almost impossible for him not to pick it.
Ninetales most likely had Drought and could well be one of the mainstays of his Sunny Day strategy.
Arcanine was more likely to have Intimidate...
With Flint fielding a roster like this, his team's weaknesses were remarkably uniform, particularly against Water, Ground, and Rock types.
As a Water type, Milotic was an absolute cornerstone,
while the Rock- and Fairy-type Diancie was also an excellent choice.
Diancie could also fill Li Wei's Mega slot.
Li Wei's original plan had been,
if Flint's team also included Electric types such as Electivire or Jolteon, he would choose Shaymin or Zeraora.
The key lay in choosing the third Pokémon.
