It was almost midnight by the time they got back.
Only after Ye Ruan and Gu Cheng finished showering did they realize how drained they were. Ye Ruan took two quick steps and flung himself onto the bed.
"Why is looking after kids more tiring than killing zombies?"
Gu Cheng chuckled, sat down beside Ye Ruan, and expertly massaged him.
"I told you your stamina was poor, but you wouldn't believe me."
Ye Ruan turned his face to the side and opened one eye.
"Yours is poor!"
"Is it, though... you should know after these past two weeks, baby."
Ye Ruan blushed so fiercely he looked ready to bleed.
Of course he knew.
For the past two weeks, Gu Cheng had been like someone clocking in, never missing a single day.
Luckily, with New Year's approaching, there wasn't much to do, and no one cared if he slept until noon.
Often, Little Bunny lay utterly spent in bed while the big bad wolf was full of energy, even getting up early to make him all kinds of breakfast.
"Wifey, shall we go to sleep?" Gu Cheng asked tentatively.
Ye Ruan nodded. "Okay, but don't tease me. I'm really sleepy today."
"All right." Gu Cheng pulled him under the covers, and the two cuddled close.
Once Ye Ruan's breathing grew steady, Gu Cheng switched off the light and went to sleep with him.
Early the next morning, Gu Cheng woke first.
Ye Ruan was still asleep, his little face flushed from the warmth.
The start of spring was almost here. Temperatures on the Island reached the twenties Celsius each day and dropped into the teens at night, so the heating had long since been turned off.
Gu Cheng was like a furnace. He could keep the bed toasty without any heating.
