Chu Qingjiu had just finished tidying the living room when he heard a piercing scream. The intense terror in that voice suggested the person had seen something horrifying.
He paused just as he was about to sit down, then headed toward the source of the sound.
It sounded like it was coming from upstairs.
He walked onto the balcony and looked up, confirming that the sound was indeed coming from above.
"Fuck you! I'll beat you to death!"
The curses and pleas for mercy came from directly overhead, every word reaching his ears.
Chu Qingjiu knew that everyone living here would become unhappy. As their luck drained away little by little, nothing went right, making them irritable and quick to anger. The man upstairs was one such example.
The man had enjoyed a successful career, but recently, many of his projects had been deemed substandard. Early that morning, he had received a termination notice. In other words, he was now unemployed.
And his wife had actually overslept that morning and failed to make breakfast. It was simply intolerable.
He worked himself to the bone earning money, while she slept without a care in the world. Now look what had happened-he had lost his job. How was he supposed to support them both?

The sharp crack sounded like the snapping of his last shred of reason. Looking at his wife's disbelieving expression, he felt utterly exhilarated.
