The prison was cold and dark. Outside, fierce winds swept across the fields, scattering the smell of gunpowder. The Witch held down her headscarf before it could blow away and squinted into the distance.
The Leader had come to see her again yesterday.
His posture was still straight, but he could not hide the exhaustion in his face. Naturally, she knew what had happened recently, but she was only a witch. There was nothing she could do about war.
