The building was desolate. Furniture was scarce in its scattered rooms, and the kitchen had no food, not even anything to boil water with. Rust covered the iron implements, paint peeled from the walls, and dusty old objects cluttered the place.
Most importantly, there was not a soul in sight, as though their arrival had frightened all the ghosts into hiding.
Surely a place with an S-rank NPC could not have only her in it?
Xie De held out his hand to let Little House Centipede crawl from the wall onto his shoulder. Some spiders and bedbugs emerged from the corners, rustling softly as they exchanged who knew what.
The Butler meticulously dusted a nearby cabinet with a feather duster, then shook his head and spoke to Xie De.
"Sir, I can only prepare a few rooms for you. This place does not welcome visitors, and every object here has its own rules governing its placement. I believe forcing a thorough cleaning would be disrespectful to the owner."
"All right. Sorry for the trouble."
The Butler bowed slightly. "It is my duty."
He took two steps back, then seemed to remember something and pulled a bottle of perfume from an exquisite little box he had brought.
"Would you care to try a different style?"
"What is this?"
"As you know, there is an instance called the Perfume Factory. This is their latest product, with notes of Italian cypress, Brazilian rosewood, cedar, and peach wood. The fragrance is very gentle, and it is a classic woody fragrance for men. I believe you will like it."
The Butler placed the perfume bottle in the little box and handed it to Xie De with a smile. "If you like it, I can have them make a custom fragrance for you. Whether as a
