After the door opened, no footsteps followed for a long while. Li Xian made no rash moves, remaining curled up and tightening his grip on the sheet hanging beside him.
About two minutes passed before there was finally movement at the door.
Footsteps sounded one after another, slow and rhythmic. The person first strolled around the outer part of the room, then ventured farther inside after finding nothing.

Li Xian pressed his advantage, kicking at the person's knee while their vision was blocked. The figure under the sheet tilted sideways and seemed about to fall, only to forcefully regain their balance at the last second!
After delivering the kick, Li Xian did not bother checking whether the person had fallen. He got up to flee toward the door, but the person behind him reacted with startling speed, sweeping the sheet backward with one hand and blindly grabbing in the direction of the blow with the other. Somehow, that hand caught his arm!
Li Xian immediately tried to pry the fingers loose. Just as his nails dug into skin, the sheet slipped off the person's head, revealing a familiar face.
Their eyes met, and both froze.
