At those words, the Captain's tone took on an edge of anger as well:
"I threw him into the sea? Five people went missing, including people I got along with. Are you saying I killed all of them?"
"Who knows? How could someone who screws people over in a contract have a conscience? Maybe the other four saw you kill someone, so you got rid of them all!"
"And now you have the nerve to turn around and blame them, saying they're the ones playing hide-and-seek-"
"There's something none of you know. When Xiao Zhang found the problem with the contract, he took me along to confront the Captain. Not only did he refuse to apologize, he threatened us, saying we could work or get lost, and that if we caused any more trouble, we might get thrown into the sea!"
"Maybe Xiao Zhang went crazy because you said something to him in private and drove him to it!"
"I bet you did it!"
"Yeah! We're done fishing! We want to turn back!!"
Curses filled the room, along with the sounds of smashing and breaking. Faced with the almost unanimous protests, the Captain said nothing. Instead, the lackey beside him suddenly pulled a knife from inside his clothes:
"What the fuck are you talking about?!"
The roar quieted the commotion in the room a little. When the Cook brandished the knife, everyone's first reaction was to back away. Before long, however, they decided he did not have the guts to stab anyone, so they plucked up their courage and started shouting again.
The Captain's face flushed crimson. Seeing that the man beside him was merely waving the blade around without the nerve to slash anyone, he snatched the weapon from his hand in a rage and cursed:
