... The first person to make a move?
Li Xian silently turned those words over in his mind.
Did he mean the first person to raise the issue of their contracts and demand higher pay, or the first person to start a fight and turn violent...
Or perhaps the person responsible for the first five crew members going missing?
The hook began sinking little by little as the captain operated the controls. When it reached the railing, a startled cry suddenly came from inside the net:
"Where am I?!"
Li Xian pricked up his ears-the voice sounded very familiar.
It belonged to the crew member who had been caught sneaking into the captain's cabin.
The captain stopped what he was doing when he heard the cry and looked into the net.
The crew member who had woken up happened to be pressed against the edge of the net. The moment he opened his eyes, he met the captain's gaze.
His expression shifted from terror to anger. He grabbed the fishing net in front of him, shook it twice, and furiously cursed at the captain:
"Are you fucking insane?! Let us out!!"
The captain stared into his eyes, his expression frighteningly cold:
"Weren't you threatening me? Weren't you hiding a knife in your bedroom?"
"If I didn't act now, I'd probably be the one to die, wouldn't I?"
The crew member shook the ropes with all his strength. Fear and anger nearly spilled out of him, but he still shouted desperately in an effort to survive:
"That was to protect myself-let us down!!"
"And the rest of you! Wake up!"
Perhaps the sleeping pills had finally worn off. Some of the crew members groggily opened their eyes at his calls, then shuddered violently when they saw the sea beneath their feet.
