Warm yellow light filled the room. An iron pipe like the one he had seen at the garbage dump extended roughly thirty centimeters from the left wall before connecting to a long array of complex glass vessels.
Some of these vessels were round, others square, all joined into a single system by an intricate network of passages. Some held unidentified liquids or powders. Invisible gas passed through water, becoming an endless stream of bubbles, then vanished from sight again as it entered the next stage.
If he had to describe it, it looked much like a process for manufacturing chemicals.
The row of vessels stretched almost the entire width of the room, connecting to the ceiling through a long vertical pipe near the right wall.
Two people stood in the room: Lin Shiming and Fan Zhe.
After observing the machinery for a while, the latter walked over to the instrument panel at the end of the vessels, checked the readings, and said:

Seeing that the concentration on the instrument panel had reached the required level, Fan Zhe immediately pressed the release control beside it. But he suddenly paused at the final step, confirming the action through his wristband, and turned to look to the side.
