Observing the Surgery

Thinking back, Li Xian realized that the conversation between the orderlies he had overheard in the pharmacy had been about 309A-

"The patients here are obedient as anything. The only difficult one was the one discharged yesterday..."

"From the look of him, he only has a few days left..."

Clearly, 309A's condition was far from promising, and that conversation had taken place the day before yesterday.

He could not delay any longer. He had to start working toward clearing the Instance by tonight at the latest.

Li Xian cracked the door open and looked outside. The orderlies in the corridor were still frantically administering emergency aid to the patients. When the patient beneath one orderly's hands finally started breathing again, the orderly let out a long breath, then quickly lifted him and carried him to the neighboring building.

Li Xian quietly watched for a while. Some of the orderlies in the corridor were focused on resuscitation, while others moved between patient rooms to conduct checks. Clearly, most of the orderlies were now concentrated on these two floors. This was not a good time to sneak into the medical building.

He would have to wait until the chaos had mostly subsided, at least.

It was not until noon that the turmoil finally came to an end under the Head Nurse's direction. Fewer than a third of the patients had been successfully revived, but living patients and corpses alike were carried across the Skybridge to the building on the other side, leaving this side feeling deserted.

Li Xian and Cheng Xin chose to go after lunch. They changed clothes, swiped their cards, and crossed the Skybridge.

They had both expected the corridor to be bustling during the day, yet the entire fourth floor was now as empty as it was at night.
