August 11, 2018. A late-summer breeze blew in from the end of the street, carrying a few leaves that had yet to turn completely yellow. They swirled around the two men's feet.
Kashimo and Kenjaku walked side by side, their pace unhurried, like two men out for an afternoon stroll. Kenjaku had traded his monk's robes for a lightweight autumn outfit that day. Kashimo rolled his eyes so hard that only the whites showed. "Fine." He forced the word through his teeth with the air of someone who couldn't be bothered to argue.
Kenjaku's gaze shifted from Kashimo's face to a billboard by the road. His steps faltered slightly, and his eyes lit up as though he had found something interesting.
"Ah-Worm Man 4." He read out the title, then turned to Kashimo. "Want to watch it?"
Kashimo followed his gaze. The brightly colored movie poster featured a twisted, half-human, half-earthworm monster
