The grounds of Jujutsu High were drenched in the glaring white sunlight of a summer afternoon, so hot that even the grass had begun to wilt. Satoru Gojo stood in the center with his hands in his pockets and his sunglasses pushed up onto his forehead, wearing his trademark grin-radiant and begging for a punch. Shoko and Suguru Geto stood opposite him, each holding a piece of stationery: an eraser in Shoko's hand and a pencil in Suguru Geto's.

"All right! Throw them!" Satoru Gojo's voice burst across the empty grounds.

Shoko glanced at Suguru Geto, and he nodded without expression. The two small objects flew from their hands, one from the left and one from the right, one high and one low, tracing different arcs toward Satoru Gojo's face at the same time. The pencil tip flashed in the sunlight, and the eraser tumbled through the air. Then, a few inches from his face, they stopped. They weren't caught or knocked aside. They simply stopped.

"Great! Looks like it worked!" Satoru Gojo plucked the two objects out of the air as though picking a pair of ripe fruits from a tree. He hefted the pencil and eraser in his palm, his grin widening. "I've switched Limitless from manual to fully automatic!"

He nodded in satisfaction.

"It can't filter out poisonous gas, but this should be enough."

He stood up, took the pencil and eraser back into his hands, and spun the pencil between two fingers.

"Whether it's Blue, Red, or Purple, I've got them all down."

Shoko stood opposite him with her arms folded, tilting her head as she studied him for a few seconds.

"Won't keeping Limitless running all the time fry your brain?"

Satoru Gojo turned to her, his smile unchanged, but his answer came
