[Brain storage]
In an underground chamber in Miyazu City, Kyoto, a naked teenage boy slowly sat up on the central stone platform.
"Where am I? Where are my clothes? Wasn't I just about to watch Jujutsu Kaisen, like my friend recommended? How did I get here?" Chiyo Shin was bewildered. When he opened his eyes, he saw an unfamiliar stone ceiling instead of the one he knew.
Before Chiyo Shin could take in more of his surroundings, excruciating pain spread from his brain throughout his body.
A weak voice sounded inside Chiyo Shin's head, but before he could make out what it was saying,
the voice disappeared, and a set of memories from a thousand years ago appeared in his mind.
The two sets of memories merged and devoured each other. Chiyo Shin clutched his head, trying to ease the pain.
After absorbing the memories, Chiyo Shin understood what had happened, though the memories themselves had become distorted beyond recognition.
He had died suddenly while staying up late to watch Jujutsu Kaisen on his friend's recommendation, transmigrated into its world, and taken over the incarnated body of a Qin clan head from the Nara period a thousand years ago.
The Qin clan head had created this incarnated body to resurrect himself.
After successfully incarnating, the Qin clan head had never expected his soul to be so weak that the transmigrating Chiyo Shin could take over his body.
The Qin clan head had not created this body out of any evil intent. He had done so after realizing that Tengen's plan would eventually run into problems.
Tengen's plan was to concentrate most curses in Japan, then personally locate and exorcise the cursed spirits born from those curses.
The Qin clan head had spotted the problem as soon as Tengen proposed the plan. Tengen could not possibly keep devoting his energy to all that forever, but at the time, Tengen refused to listen to anyone. He was determined to become a savior.
Left with no choice, the Qin clan head had stopped developing his innate cursed technique and begun researching the relationship between cursed spirits and humans. Before his death, he finally created an unconscious body that was neither quite human nor quite curse.
Not only did this incarnated body possess an endless supply of cursed energy, but it could also heal its injuries through its flesh alone, even without cursed energy.
As long as its head was not smashed apart, it could recover, though not as quickly as with Reverse Cursed Technique.
And this was only the body's first stage.
According to the memories, in its second stage, it might grow organs to assist in combat.
The memories said nothing about whether there was a third stage.
After completing his research, the Qin clan head instructed his clansmen to awaken him using this body once Tengen failed.
To prevent the body from being destroyed, he used the last of his life and all his cursed energy to curse it, making it ageless, deathless, and indestructible.
But now, everything the Qin clan head had done had fallen into Chiyo Shin's lap.
I'm sorry, Qin clan head.
Since I've come to this world of jujutsu, I'll accept the body you created and keep living.
To make it up to you, I promise to fulfill your last wish and make up for Tengen's shortcomings.
But I transmigrated without any preparation. I haven't even read the manga. Everything I know comes from my friend's spoilers and videos online. This is going to be tough.
I don't even know which part of the manga's timeline I'm in.
Still naked, he stood up and moved around a little. The body felt perfectly natural and moved nimbly.
From the memories, Chiyo Shin learned that the Qin clan head's cursed technique was Collapse. It could destroy objects his body touched, and its extended application could even destroy thoughts and ideas. The Qin clan head had also learned Reverse Cursed Technique.
Using the positive energy of Reverse Cursed Technique to operate Collapse in reverse produced restoration.
And I have an innate cursed technique of my own after transmigrating. It's Vibration. Wouldn't reversing Vibration mean stillness?
I'm invincible!
Once I've adjusted to this body, I need to try out my cursed techniques.
While moving around, Chiyo Shin happened to glance down and noticed a dust-covered notebook on the floor.
He walked over, picked it up, and opened it. Inside were entries in different handwriting, left for his predecessor by the Qin clansmen.
The notebook read:
"Honored ancestor, after your death, our clan declined with each passing day. Fortunately, we exhausted our wealth to help relocate the capital and received the emperor's protection, allowing our clan to survive."
(Heian period)
"Honored ancestor, Tengen began his plan after your death. He established several barriers of emptiness in Japan to draw most cursed energy here, and dispatched large numbers of jujutsu sorcerers to oversee them and exorcise any cursed spirits that appeared. So far, everything seems to be going well."
"Tengen's lifespan is nearing its end, but his plan is still proceeding relatively smoothly. Ancestor, should we resurrect you?"
"Tengen found a way to resolve the issue of his lifespan. He assimilated a person called a Star Plasma Vessel, preserving his longevity."
Next page.
(Azuchi-Momoyama period)
"Honored ancestor, someone named Kenjaku murdered the Star Plasma Vessel. We are preparing to resurrect you."
"A Star Plasma Vessel has appeared again, but the ritual to resurrect you has already begun. We do not know how to stop it, so we can only slow your incarnation."
(Meiji Restoration era)
"My apologies, honored ancestor. I am the Qin clan's last clan head. I am sorry that I could not fulfill your final wish, but the incarnation ritual will not stop. If you awaken, there is a room on the left side of the underground chamber containing the clan's final legacy."
"I am sorry, honored ancestor. In my generation, the Qin clan has ceased to exist in all but name."
The notebook ended abruptly there. The remaining pages were blank.
No wonder I could transmigrate and take over an incarnated body from a thousand years ago. It turns out the Qin clan head's incarnation had been taking place in fits and starts.
Ah, the Qin clan really had a rough fate. I thought there would be clansmen waiting to welcome me outside, but I guess that's impossible now.
Reading the mention of the Qin clan's legacy, Chiyo Shin followed the method in his memories and wrapped his body in cursed energy. With a single leap, he instantly reached the left side of the underground chamber.
He felt along the stone wall for a while before finally finding a very conspicuous stone door on the left.
Chiyo Shin forced the stone door open, revealing two racks and an old-fashioned kimono.
Chiyo Shin brightened at the sight of the clothes. He finally did not have to stay naked. He hurried over, picked up the kimono, and put it on.
Once dressed, he looked at the two racks beside where the clothes had been.
On the first rack rested a tachi measuring 1.2 meters long. On the second lay an ink-black umbrella.
Chiyo Shin leaned closer. The racks holding the two objects were labeled "Special Grade Cursed Tool: First Generation Moon" and "Special Grade Cursed Tool: Bone-Binding Umbrella."
Two special grade cursed tools? Is this the Qin clan's final legacy?
The more cursed energy was infused into the Special Grade Cursed Tool First Generation Moon, the sharper its edge and the tougher its blade became. It could also store cursed energy and release slashing attacks.
Reading the description on the rack, Chiyo Shin picked up the First Generation Moon and hefted it in his hand. It had considerable weight.
Chiyo Shin poured cursed energy into the First Generation Moon.
As cursed energy flowed into it, the First Generation Moon's blade gleamed silver. Chiyo Shin drew it across the stone wall, and it sliced through like a knife through tofu. It was incredibly sharp.
He swung it through the air, releasing a moderately sized slashing attack.
Good stuff!
Chiyo Shin tucked the First Generation Moon at his waist, then turned to pick up the Bone-Binding Umbrella. It felt wonderful in his hand, exceptionally smooth.
He opened the Bone-Binding Umbrella. Cursed inscriptions covered the underside of its canopy.
Using his memories, Chiyo Shin translated the inscriptions. They roughly meant that the umbrella could serve as a medium to forcibly control five cursed spirits, with no grade restriction on the spirits it controlled.
Another incredible weapon!
While feeling the umbrella's handle, Chiyo Shin also drew a slender short blade from within it. He infused it with cursed energy, and it gleamed silver just like the First Generation Moon. He drew it across the stone wall, finding it equally sharp.
With two special grade cursed tools at his side, it was time to see how powerful his two cursed techniques were.
