The midday sunlight spilled over the street like golden grains, while Sukuna and the others leisurely licked their ice cream inside the shop.
But who would have guessed that neither Satoru Gojo nor Suguru Geto smoked or drank, while Shoko Ieiri, who hung out with the two boys, did both?
Although Satoru Gojo had bought the most ice cream, he only ate the tips!
He wouldn't even taste the crunchy cones beneath the ice cream. Those were the best part!
Sukuna inwardly scoffed at Satoru Gojo and quietly finished the crunchy cone in his hand.
But even without eating the cones, Satoru Gojo couldn't finish the mountain of ice cream he'd bought. Plenty of them sat untouched, casually scattered across the table.
"Satoru, you're wasting food again."
Suguru Geto gave Satoru Gojo a helpless look. Clearly, he did this often. Despite scolding him, Suguru Geto didn't reach over to eat any of it himself.
Seriously! Who could eat with the taste of a filthy sewer rag in their mouth? Never mind someone else's leftovers.
Every time he absorbed a Cursed Spirit, Suguru Geto felt nauseated for days afterward. Eating something this sickeningly sweet would only make him want to throw up.
Shoko had finished her unusually flavored ice cream, too.
Then she raised her hand and called to the server, "Bring me a bottle of liquor. I want to savor it."
The ice cream shop employee hadn't quite caught up. "Uh..."
Only after a moment did the employee hurriedly wave their hands. "Miss, we don't sell alcohol here. If you'd like some, please buy it at a convenience store."
The employees in big cities really were polite. An employee in Rinkai would have assumed she was there to cause trouble and might already have grabbed a stick.
Satoru Gojo patted his stomach in satisfaction, pulled out a napkin, and wiped his mouth. He was a handsome guy who cared about appearances, after all.
Ignoring the several female employees who wanted to ask for his contact information-and some male employees, too-he seized an opening, grabbed an unfinished ice cream, and hurled it at Suguru Geto's face.
Unfortunately, Suguru Geto seemed to have anticipated it. He blocked it with the napkin dispenser, then stood straight up.
Shoko stood up as well, a little disappointed that she hadn't gotten any liquor.
Sukuna, who had been waiting with his eyes closed for everyone else to finish, sensed them getting up and rose, too.
"Let's go. First, we'll stop at a convenience store to buy me some liquor, then we'll go to a fried chicken place."
"Sure, no problem."
Suguru Geto nodded. Satoru Gojo said nothing, but after spending so much time together, Shoko could tell at a glance that he had no objections either.
Even if he didn't like greasy food, he wasn't going to head back to Jujutsu High all alone.
Yes, finally, fried chicken! It's been a whole night since I last had any. I've missed it so much! Sukuna's inner monologue was lively, but his expression didn't change at all.
Satoru Gojo took out several Yukichi Fukuzawa bills and handed them to the cashier, waving generously. "Treat yourselves to some ice cream with the change."
Sure enough, those words won him plenty of fangirls. The ice cream shop employees, already drawn to his good looks, grew even more excited. Handsome and rich-the perfect man.
"Oh my gosh, he's so handsome! Seriously, I love him to death!"
"Aaah! I want to have his babies! I want to give him a whole soccer team of babies!"
Before long, cries like these filled the entire ice cream shop. Even some of the girls who had come in for ice cream couldn't help shrieking.
Satoru Gojo was long used to this. He simply left the shop, offering them a dashing view of his retreating figure.
Even after leaving the ice cream shop, Sukuna couldn't figure it out. He was incredibly handsome, too, so why hadn't anyone screamed over him?
Do these black markings all over me really make me look like a delinquent? But don't Japanese people love delinquents? Sukuna glanced at the black markings covering his body. The more he looked, the cooler they seemed.
In the end, he could only conclude that Japanese people in this era had no taste. In another decade or so, his looks would absolutely sweep countless girls off their feet.
Despite thinking that, Sukuna couldn't resist looking back. Sure enough, not a single person had chased after him to ask for his contact information.
Shoko had already found a convenience store. Before long, she came out carrying two bottles of strong liquor.
Her smile was much brighter than it had been when she entered the ice cream shop.
"How can you eat meat without drinking? You're all having a few drinks with me later."
Shoko bounded up to the three of them and cheerfully raised the bottles in her hands.
"Sure."
Suguru Geto didn't particularly mind. A little alcohol might help wash away the disgusting taste in his mouth.
Satoru Gojo gave them his usual disdainful glance. He never touched a drop.
The others might not have known why Satoru Gojo abstained from alcohol, but our esteemed Sukuna certainly did.
Satoru Gojo at this stage was undeniably strong, but he was also undeniably weak. He still had quite a few weaknesses, after all.
His refusal to drink was one of them. The Six Eyes constantly flooded him with information, keeping his brain working under an enormous strain.
On top of that, he kept [Limitless] active all the time. Those two things combined made Satoru Gojo's brain like an overheating computer.
Alcohol could directly stimulate the brain. Once his brain was stimulated, Satoru Gojo could very well crash completely.
Because of the Six Eyes, he never had a chance to let his brain relax. All that information entered his brain automatically.
Satoru Gojo had absolutely no control over that influx of information. He loved sweets so much because they could ease his brain's fatigue.
They could also, to some extent, restore the dopamine and neurons in his brain, so it was perfectly normal for Satoru Gojo to become obsessed with sweets.
Still, that was a good thing. At least he genuinely enjoyed sweets, unlike Suguru Geto, who swallowed one disgusting Cursed Spirit orb after another just to grow stronger and better protect the weak.
Nothing could ease the taste of those Cursed Spirit orbs, like filthy sewer rags. Beneath Suguru Geto's smiling face lay a mind on the brink of collapse.
"Sukuna, look, there's a KFC up ahead. Let's eat there."
Shoko pointed at a KFC directly ahead of them.
"Sure, let's go there."
Now that he'd finally spotted a fried chicken place he liked, how could Sukuna let it slip by? If they walked past it, who knew where the next one would be?
He had an absolutely terrible sense of direction, and he didn't know the streets here at all.
Even long ago, before he'd transmigrated, he could barely tell north, south, east, and west apart around his own home. Entering the address was always the most troublesome part of ordering delivery.
"Yay, yay! KFC, here we come!"
Smiling, Shoko kept circling around the three of them. If the bottles in her hands hadn't still been unopened...
Sukuna would have thought she was already drunk, though even at this stage, Shoko could drink anyone under the table.
"Welcome!"
The young woman who had been slacking off at the register spotted the four of them the moment they entered. Aside from the short-haired girl and the strange man with the weird bangs...
The two standing in the middle were breathtaking, and each was handsome in a completely different way.
The one wearing sunglasses had to be at least six foot three. He also seemed to be mixed-race, with blue eyes that held a hint of melancholy.
The other looked like a delinquent, but that couldn't detract from how handsome he was!
The arrival of these two men instantly fired up the young employee, who hadn't been particularly enthusiastic about her work before.
Sukuna pointed at the largest fried chicken combo. Shoko only ordered wings and a drumstick, Suguru Geto ordered a family bucket, and Satoru Gojo ordered nothing.
He was already full from the ice cream. Even if he hadn't been, he would have gone to buy Kikufuku. Greasy food had never interested him.
As the young employee left, her lingering gaze kept shifting between Sukuna and Satoru Gojo.
Only the fear of her boss docking her pay stopped her. Otherwise, she would have sat down to have a heart-to-heart with these two handsome men.
Seeing that Satoru Gojo hadn't ordered anything, Suguru Geto went to fetch three cups.
Shoko's eyes lit up at the sight of the cups. She popped open a bottle with a clunk, and the rich smell of liquor immediately spread through the air.
Satoru Gojo had to cover his nose and lean farther back. He didn't want to smell anything that would stimulate his brain. He closed his eyes, taking the opportunity to process the useless information in his head.
The young employee really did hurry things along in the back. In just over ten minutes, everything they'd ordered had arrived.
"Sukuna, want some liquor?"
Sukuna glanced at the bottle. Fifty-eight percent alcohol!
He hurriedly waved his hands. "I don't like drinking. Cola's my favorite."
Sukuna raised his beloved cola. He didn't want to get drunk and start babbling. If he couldn't keep his mouth shut and revealed his true identity, he'd be in trouble.
"Gulp, gulp." As the cola flowed into his mouth, he savored the unique sensation of its bubbles.
Sukuna felt it whetted his appetite even better than drinking a bottle of vinegar. He took a bite of the drumstick in his hand.
The golden-brown Orleans roasted drumstick entered his mouth, and just one bite unleashed a burst of rich juices.
At that moment, he felt that the sashimi he'd eaten earlier was utter dog shit. Even dogs wouldn't eat dog shit, after all.
Ah! Fried chicken really is the best. It's every fast-food lover's favorite. Nobody can resist how delicious it is.
And if anyone can, just add a cup of cola.
Suguru Geto ate a wing from his family bucket with his eyes closed, forcing down a mouthful of liquor to suppress the urge to vomit.
Sure enough, no matter how many times he endured it, he still couldn't stand that taste.
Shoko had nearly drained an entire bottle of liquor. She had completely abandoned any ladylike restraint and was drinking straight from the bottle.
Before long, the delicious fried chicken was all gone. Sukuna resisted the urge to suck his fingers clean and wiped his hands with a napkin.
