"Tap, tap, tap."
The sound of footsteps suddenly echoed down the street, where only the two children stood.
Megumi Fushiguro immediately spotted Sukuna coming around the corner. He stepped in front of Tsumiki Fushiguro and watched Sukuna warily.
"Who are you?"
Looking at the heartwarming scene before him, Sukuna merely chuckled.
"I just saved you, you know."
"I know you saved me. Why did you do it?"
As though he had heard some outrageous joke, Sukuna pointed at Megumi Fushiguro in disbelief.
"Why can't I save you? I'm a good person, you know."
"Megumi, don't be so nervous."
Tsumiki Fushiguro glanced at Sukuna, her gaze lingering on his red eyes for a few seconds.
Only then did she say, "This man saved us. Don't be rude."
With that, she gave Sukuna a deep, grateful bow.
Megumi Fushiguro still did not move, though his eyes had grown a little less wary.
"Haha, you two little brats are pretty interesting."
After saying that, Sukuna turned and left. He did not want anyone realizing he had arranged this chance encounter.
"Thank you, mister."
Tsumiki Fushiguro bowed once more to Sukuna's retreating back before taking Megumi Fushiguro home.
The moment she opened the door, she went to find the iodine antiseptic and cotton swabs without even putting down her schoolbag.
They always kept those things at home. After all, Megumi Fushiguro was constantly going out to beat people up or getting beaten up himself.
Either way, he would end up hurt.
After returning to Jujutsu High, Sukuna headed straight for Shoko's dissection room.
Finding no one there, he went to the cafeteria. Sure enough, the moment he entered, he saw Shoko drinking in a corner.
He ordered two pieces of fried chicken and carried his plate over to that corner. Of course, he had not forgotten his Coca-Cola.
"Shoko, did you get some sleep?"
Looking at the heavy dark circles under the brown-haired girl's eyes, Sukuna truly felt that Shoko was pushing herself far too hard.
Satoru Gojo, who was in the same year, was still having the time of his life. Only Suguru Geto would choose to swallow Cursed Spirit orbs that tasted like filthy rags from a sewer.
"Haha, I'm just trying to get my Medical License sooner. I don't want to go to the front lines."
When Shoko saw Sukuna, she paused her drinking for a moment before carrying on by herself.
After all, Sukuna could not enjoy such delicious liquor with her.
"Haha."
Sukuna merely laughed without continuing the conversation, focusing instead on the fried chicken in his hands.
The tender, delicious fried chicken teased his taste buds with every bite.
One mouthful left him feeling much better. In no time, he finished the chicken and his Coca-Cola.
"Burp~"
He let out a satisfied burp. Shoko had also finished her drink, and judging by the direction she headed when she stood up, she was going back to the dissection room.
Sukuna returned to his dorm to get some serious sleep.
"Clan head, is everything you said true?"
At the Gojo Clan estate.
A group of decrepit elders crowded around Satoru Gojo, their wrinkled faces practically pressing against him.
"Hey, what's that supposed to mean, old man?"
Satoru Gojo glanced at him, then took his sunglasses out of his pocket and put them on. Having his brain constantly taxed was still rather unpleasant.
The sunglasses did not help much, but at least they reduced the amount of information his Six Eyes automatically absorbed.
"Clan head, did Jujutsu High really admit a descendant of Sukuna this year?"
Anxious expressions appeared on the old fossils' faces, but they still dared not speak too harshly. After all, the boy before them was the future head of their Gojo Clan.
"Yes, yes. Our teacher brought him in personally. Would I lie to you?"
Satoru Gojo gave them a disgruntled look.
The old men exchanged glances, their expressions rather grave.
"Ryomen Sukuna? He was the strongest King of Curses a thousand years ago!"
"I know, I know. But aren't I the strongest now? Even if he really came back to life, he couldn't beat me, okay?"
Satoru Gojo waved dismissively, seemingly unconcerned.
"No, clan head."
The Gojo Clan elder's expression grew even graver. "Even we of the Three Great Families know nothing about any descendant of Sukuna."
"And there has never been any record of Sukuna having descendants. Something like that couldn't stay hidden for a thousand years without anyone noticing or discovering it."
"All right, all right. Our teacher told us himself, so of course it's true."
Satoru Gojo gave them an annoyed look. Ever since he had returned a day ago, these old fossils had been pestering him with endless questions.
They were terrified he might lose an arm or a leg at Jujutsu High, and several times they had seemed about to say something, only to hold back.
It was not hard to guess that they did not want Satoru Gojo going back to Jujutsu High.
After all, as a sorcerer with the Six Eyes, Satoru Gojo had no real need for schooling. With those eyes, there was nothing he could not learn.
Given enough time, he was certain to become the strongest. Even now, few people would dare claim they were stronger than Satoru Gojo.
Anyone who dared say it was probably an idiot, because anyone with sense understood the gap between themselves and Satoru Gojo.
The Six Eyes meant one thing: the strongest!
That was also the very foundation of the Gojo Clan's position at the head of the Three Great Families.
"All right, all right, all right. End of discussion. I'm going to bed."
Satoru Gojo waved impatiently, leaped out from among the old men, and headed straight to his luxurious bedroom.
Unlike the Zenin Clan's conservative style, the Gojo Clan seemed closer to ordinary people, with entirely modern architecture.
They had also established numerous companies to ensure that Satoru Gojo had an endless supply of money to spend, becoming a business powerhouse in Tokyo.
Of course, only family members who had not awakened a Cursed Technique were sent out to do business.
In terms of wealth alone, the Gojo Clan could utterly crush the Zenin Clan.
Even in terms of strength, the Gojo Clan once again had a sorcerer with the Six Eyes, while no one in the Zenin Clan had awakened its strongest Cursed Technique.
That had thoroughly provoked the Zenin Clan. Reportedly, over the past decade or so, the clan had turned into a breeding machine.
Its membership had multiplied several times over. They were frantically having children, hoping that sheer numbers would produce someone who awakened the [Ten Shadows Technique].
After all, the Zenin Clan did not have a single Special Grade Sorcerer, though it did have Naobito Zenin, reputedly the strongest Grade 1 Sorcerer.
But he still fell somewhat short when compared to Special Grade Sorcerers.
After Satoru Gojo left, only the decrepit elders remained, staring at one another.
"What the clan head said should all be true, shouldn't it?"
"We should trust the clan head. What we ought to do now is investigate this so-called descendant of Sukuna."
"Ah... the clan head will think we're meddling. Perhaps we should leave it alone for now."
After hesitating for a while, they ultimately rejected the proposal.
"Ah! Lately, the clan head has been getting more and more..."
Though he did not finish, the others all understood what he meant.
After all, even they did not know why Satoru Gojo had suddenly turned out like this. He had been so composed as a child.
They had let their guard down for a moment, and he had somehow grown into a problem teenager.
"It's a shame the clan head's parents haven't returned yet."
Just like that, the night quietly passed. Sukuna got up bright and early, as he had been doing for several days running.
"Still bleary-eyed, he rubbed his eyes and switched on the television in his dorm."
"Special report: A major fire broke out on the outskirts of Tokyo yesterday at 5:28 p.m., leaving more than ten people missing. Firefighters battled the blaze throughout the night before finally extinguishing it."
Watching the reporter on television, Sukuna felt not the slightest ripple of emotion. He switched it off and left his dorm.
He headed straight to the cafeteria, deciding to have three chicken cutlets for breakfast. There was no particular reason-he was simply in a wonderful mood.
When he arrived, he did not see Shoko. Instead, he spotted his second-favorite dish: pork knuckles braised in savory sauce.
His plan for three chicken cutlets immediately changed.
"Two servings of braised pork knuckle and two chicken cutlets!"
Looking at the chicken cutlets and pork knuckles in his hands, Sukuna slapped his thigh as he remembered what he had forgotten. He turned back to grab a few bottles of ice-cold Coca-Cola.
No matter the season, ice-cold Coca-Cola always tasted best. Sukuna could guarantee that no one could hate it.
Even if someone refused to eat cilantro or fish mint, they would definitely enjoy drinking ice-cold Coca-Cola.
In the dissection room.
Shoko was asleep with her head on the desk. The ashtray beside her was crammed with cigarette butts, making it obvious that she had pulled another all-nighter.
If Satoru Gojo knew how hard Shoko was working, he would surely clutch his stomach and roar with laughter.
After all, there was nothing Satoru Gojo could not learn. Even the most difficult things seemed like child's play to him.
The only thing that had stumped him all these years was [Reverse Cursed Technique], but no one thought he would never master it. To everyone else, it would have been far stranger if he could not.
