"Uraume, have someone carve a stone statue of me and bring it here."
"Yes, my lord."
Uraume bowed respectfully, then vanished from the spot.
"They want me to sit in this godforsaken place for three days? Fat fucking chance! I'm the renowned Ghost King of Mount Luofeng, and they expect me to protect them? Keep dreaming."
Sukuna raised a pitch-black finger and stuck it into his nostril, digging around.
"Eww~ I thought this body was supposed to be immaculate. Why does it still have boogers? Disgusting." He casually flicked the booger clinging to his nail onto some unlucky official's hat below, then added with wicked amusement, "Consider that a gift from a god. Count yourself lucky, kid!"
"Let me think. From what I know of the plot, I only had ties to three people a thousand years ago. Uraume has always followed me, Yorozu has already been killed by my own hand, and then there's that old bastard Kenjaku." For some reason, the moment he mentioned Kenjaku, his heart gave a sudden jolt.
"Fuck, I completely forgot!! Since I already killed Yorozu, and her Incarnation a thousand years later was connected to Kenjaku, couldn't I find that old bastard just by following her corpse?!"
That thought brought back many other forgotten details, but just as he frowned and prepared to sort through the plot properly, he suddenly fell asleep against his will, as though he had lost control of his body.
When he opened his eyes again, everything before him was blood-red, and the dark, heavy atmosphere felt terribly oppressive.
"This... this is my Innate Domain. I dragged myself into my own Innate Domain?"
While Sukuna was still looking around in confusion, unbearable pain suddenly spread through his entire body. It felt as though he were being torn apart, then having something stuffed back inside him. He felt like a lump of modeling clay, ripped to pieces before being fused together again and molded into different shapes. Fortunately, the pain did not last long and ended after only a moment. Once it had completely faded, Sukuna opened his four eyes and examined his body.
"Nothing's changed, has it? Wait, why the fuck do I have four arms? And why do I have two pairs of eyes now? How did I just transform?"
Although the system had destroyed Sukuna's original soul when he transmigrated, leaving only scattered memory fragments for him to absorb, his soul had still retained Lin Mu's appearance when it arrived. Yet after that bout of pain, it had turned straight into a four-eyed, four-armed form. Who could possibly take that in stride? As it happened, Sukuna clearly accepted it very quickly. His earlier exclamation had merely been surprise at the sudden change. Now, he was probably delighted.
"Who could possibly tell I'm an impostor now? Even the shape of my soul has changed. Not even Mahito could recognize me anymore! Hahahahahahaha! This is absolutely perfect!" After a bout of wild, unrestrained laughter, he finally understood what had happened. He had completely fused with this body. From now on, he was Sukuna, and Sukuna was him!
"As expected of the strongest King of Curses, who dominated Jujutsu Society for a thousand years. This power is simply intoxicating! With power this terrifying, what could Satoru Gojo do even if he showed up? I'd blow him apart with one fucking punch!" After that terrifying bout of self-adulation, his face bore a joyous grin he had never worn in his previous life. It was not just his soul that had changed; the transformation had reached something deeper. He had fully fused with the memory fragments, which also meant he had fused with part of Sukuna's original soul. If his persona before had been a forced act, now at least thirty percent of it was genuine.
By the time he fully regained consciousness, the rituals around him had stopped, and night had fallen. A full moon hung in the sky, casting a sliver of moonlight across his face. The black markings on his body writhed constantly as though alive. As his four eyes slowly opened, a tremendous surge of cursed energy burst from him. "So this is my full power?" Bathed in moonlight, he tilted his head skyward at a forty-five-degree angle and laughed. "Hahahaha! At last, I can do whatever I want."
"My lord, you're awake. The statue is finished. Shall I bring it inside?"
As always, Uraume walked softly up behind him, her voice reaching his ears at just the right volume. Sukuna's wild laughter cut off abruptly. He quietly shut his mouth and rubbed his nose in embarrassment. Being caught acting out his over-the-top fantasies was mortifying.
"Put the statue on the altar. We'll leave Heian-kyo tonight."
"Yes, my lord." Without a single question, Uraume guided the statue slowly onto the altar. Once the heavy curtain was drawn, the statue inside looked so lifelike that no one could spot a flaw. She had clearly worked on that exquisite statue herself; otherwise, the stonemasons of this era could never have carved it in such a short time.
"Come on. Let's leave Heian-kyo and go have some fun out in the countryside." At the faintly wicked sound of his voice, Uraume seemed to see mountains of corpses and seas of blood already, with the burly man before her standing atop those heaps of bodies.
"Look into Kenjaku's whereabouts while you're at it. I want to see him."
"Yes." Although she did not know why Sukuna suddenly wanted to see Kenjaku, she knew the man as well. He was a powerful curse user who had visited her lord several years ago, and she had been present. Indeed, whatever the occasion, she always stayed close behind Sukuna. That hateful curse user had actually wanted Sukuna to join him in some terrifying plan. He had even wanted Sukuna to sign some sort of contract when he was on the verge of death. To Sukuna, however, that was no different from slavery, and anyone who knew him knew that he would never accept anyone's orders. That conversation had ended on bad terms-or rather, Kenjaku had fled in panic. Fortunately for him, Sukuna had apparently not been in the mood to kill that day and had not opened his domain. Otherwise, Kenjaku would never have gotten off with merely half an arm severed.
After a moment's hesitation, she spoke. "A few days ago, I discovered cursed residue left by Kenjaku in Heian-kyo. It was my fault for failing to intercept him." Uraume dropped to her knees before Sukuna with a thud.
"Get up. This has nothing to do with you. Wanting to see him was just a whim."
"Yes, my lord. I will find his trail. Do you want him dead or alive?"
"Uh... I want to talk to him, so alive, obviously. I don't have the ability to talk to dead people yet." (눈_눈)
"I'm sorry, my lord. That was my mistake."
Seeing Uraume about to kneel again, he quickly waved a hand to stop her. Leaving Heian-kyo came first. He picked a direction at random and sped off. Although he could have flown straight there using Reverse Cursed Technique, for some reason, he did not use it.
