But he had never seen one inside the Safe Zone since the Apocalypse began.

Because in Qian Wendao's eyes, he had a powerful backer.
Saying that would expose his lack of worldly experience and could easily arouse suspicion.
Qin Siyang smiled faintly. "I just didn't expect to see a car here."
"In this area, only the district chief has a car. He specifically sent it today to take you and me to the district government offices for the meeting."
With that, Qian Wendao put on an exaggerated, fake smile.
"The district chief really does look after us!"
Qin Siyang nodded slightly.
It seemed Qian Wendao was not particularly fond of this district chief.
The district chief had probably played a part in the plot against Qian Wendao, too.
"Then I'll have to thank the district chief properly."
As he spoke, he opened the rear door and got into the car.
With a harsh roar of the engine, the car started up and headed for the district government offices.
The roads near the edge of the Safe Zone were riddled with potholes, so the ride was still bumpy even inside the car. Still, it was much more comfortable than taking the bus.
Qian Wendao patted the back of Qin Siyang's hand. "Thank you."
Qin Siyang nodded lightly. "It's only right."
The driver seemed to have received orders from the district chief to reach the district government offices as quickly as possible. He sped the whole way, constantly honking to force pedestrians aside.
Watching him gave Qin Siyang goosebumps. He was terrified the car would go out of control, crash into the roadside, and explode.
