Cheng Rujin passionately recommended his subordinate Olof, overriding his colleague Xiao Zhigang's displeasure.
But Cheng Rujin alone could not decide who would become District Chief of District 2.
The people from Zone 1 also knew that every United Government official of ministerial rank or above lived in District 2. Even though Qian Wendao had weakened the District Chief's authority, the position remained a vital hub for liaising with the various ministers.
Ander said, "Qian Wendao, you say you want to be Secretary-General, and it's true that no one has more seniority than you. But the United Government isn't yours alone to command, nor can you appoint whoever you please."
Ander aimed his words squarely at Olof. "He's only been Office Director of the Police Department for a month. He hasn't even mastered administrative affairs yet. What qualifies him to shoulder the burden of District 2? If killing more cultists makes someone fit for high office, then I think the people in the Military who killed Gods and defended the Safe Zone are better suited to be District Chief than he is."
Ander turned back to challenge Qian Wendao. "When appointing someone to such an important position, even if we disregard seniority, shouldn't experience come first?"
Olof remained silent.
After the great battle, some people already knew that Olof was actually Lei Xiaoting, the supposedly dead Beirong Principal.
It was not that Olof lacked experience. He simply could not bring that experience up.
Why should a man who had opposed the United Government and faked his death for years be allowed to return in another body and still hold an important government post?
Olof pretended that he was simply Olof. The Beirong incident had already been officially settled, and to avoid trouble, Lei Xiaoting had to remain a dead man.
