Qin Siyang had not read the papers carefully.

But just looking at their authors told him why they had reported him.

He had threatened their livelihoods.

Furensa was listed as the first author on all three papers.

The second author was Harrison van der Sar. Qin Siyang did not know him, nor could he find his name on any of the nameplates present.

On two of the papers, Crawford was listed as the third author.

Each paper had a string of twenty or thirty names.

An ordinary paper only had a handful of authors.

So many names on these papers meant that the research was not only extensive, but also highly influential.

All those people had put in all that effort to prove that a Doom Octopus's disc carapace could not be worth more than eight hundred points.

Then Qin Siyang had produced a single disc carapace worth over twelve hundred points, overturning the work of that entire group of researchers.

No wonder Furensa and Crawford had rushed over and set a trap at this joint interrogation, intent on convicting Qin Siyang without giving him a chance to explain.

They had probably realized their research was wrong, too.

But they could not possibly give up everything they had gained just because their research was flawed.

And so.

If they could not solve the problem, they would get rid of the person who had caused it.

What a clever tactic.

Unfortunately, their plan had hit a snag.

Jonathan was not one of their loyal supporters. As soon as he realized something was wrong, he had pulled out of their camp.

They no longer controlled the entire narrative and could no longer pin arbitrary charges on Qin Siyang.

Their original plan to convict him first and gather evidence afterward had fallen apart.
