Having confirmed the potential the Eighth Domain had shown, Sturgeon Crocodile and Red Carp, who had originally intended to grab what they could and leave, began entertaining other ideas.
Perhaps the Eighth Domain, effectively sentenced to death on other planets, really could fight its way to survival on this one.
"I sensed those two groups of illegal crossers you mentioned on the river, too."
Power Bull's gaze hardened. "Of the two groups, the ones who forced their way across the Great River have obvious origins. They're lackeys sent by the Domain Masters of other evolutionary sequence domains. They barely managed to cross using special vehicles, but that equipment was far too low-grade to withstand the erosion of the domain boundary. Now some are dead and others crippled. They probably don't even have a tenth of their peak strength left."
"A tenth?" Red Carp flicked her tail. "Humans say even a starving camel is bigger than a horse. They're Domain Sequence users, and not level-one Domain Sequence users, either. Even with only a breath left in them, they could wipe out swathes of Origin Sequence natives. Things look grim for the little ones inside."
Power Bull said helplessly, "There's nothing I can do about that. Under the rules, I can't simply crush outside invaders myself. But... the Safe Zone near the Great River isn't very large. If they want to reach the central Main Urban District, they'll still have to cross the Mountain Ridge I'm guarding."
A sly gleam flashed in his enormous eyes. "Since they're passing through my territory, making things a little harder for them and buying some time wouldn't count as breaking the rules."
"Save it." Red Carp sounded worried. "The Succession Envoy has very sharp eyes. If you make it too obvious, you'll be in serious trouble.
