"Do you need me to jog your memory some more?"
The Chinese words Margaret softly uttered struck Sima Ji along with the cold wind from the riverbank, making his gaze grow even darker.
Margaret paced slowly. "Who in the entire [evolutionary origin domain] doesn't know that you secured your lofty position as Domain Master by selling out a friend who trusted you implicitly?"
Looking at Sima Ji's gloomy face, Margaret's expression grew even more contemptuous. "I hear you once pointed at the Dark River in the Seventh Domain and swore a solemn oath: 'I will never betray you.' And what happened? The first thing you did after becoming Domain Master was break that oath. You put your friend under house arrest and forced him to use the [Apocalypse Fragment] to enter the next [evolutionary sequence domain]."
She stopped before Sima Ji, her eyes full of disdain. "A shameless man without a shred of integrity, with blood all over his hands, is standing here lecturing me about dignity?"
Her words were like knives slicing across Sima Ji's face.
Yet Margaret did not let him off. She continued, "Do you know? Every time I see you wearing a Huaguo face and speaking Huaguo's language, all I can think of are the filthy, unspeakable things you've done."
"So I don't know why you insist on speaking Chinese. As one of your Huaguo sayings goes, 'One rat dropping ruins the whole pot of porridge.' All you accomplish is making people think... every Huaguo person who speaks Chinese is disgusting!"
Those words pierced the darkest corner of Sima Ji's heart.
Even though Margaret was talking about something everyone knew, even though Sima Ji knew it had become common knowledge because certain people had deliberately spread it, having it thrown in his face still enraged him
