Roylena eyed Qin Siyang warily, seemingly unconvinced by his words.
Qin Siyang spread his hands. "I wouldn't have come to see you if I weren't absolutely certain. So I hope you'll have a little patience and keep talking to me."
"What do you want?"
"Didn't I already tell you? I want you to introduce me to the person who forged your Sequence."
Roylena asked again, "And then?"
"And then... sigh, you really haven't listened to anything I've said. First, take your hand off that holster you've unsnapped."
Seeing the killing intent in Roylena's eyes, Qin Siyang knew she was going to try shooting him no matter what. He continued helplessly:
"Don't waste your effort. Before coming here, I scheduled an email to be sent to every officer in the Police Bureau. By tomorrow morning, everyone there will know your Sequence is fake. If I can't get back tonight to postpone that email, you'll be exposed tomorrow."
"So killing me won't do you any good."
"What?!" Roylena froze.
She hadn't expected the masked man before her to have another trick up his sleeve!
Now she was genuinely panicking.
Things were heading in the worst possible direction for her.
"Besides, you couldn't kill me anyway."
While Roylena was still stunned, Qin Siyang activated his [Violence] skill, kicked off the ground, and shot forward.
Roylena was a Sequence Ability User, and not one of the lowest rank. Her perception and agility were far beyond an ordinary person's.
Even so, all she could do was watch Qin Siyang rush toward her at incredible speed. She had no time to react.
Qin Siyang snatched the gun from Roylena's hand, then hopped back twice to put some distance between them.
"What are you doing?!"
Spinning the gun in his hand, Qin Siyang teased, "I've been talking all this time, but you still don't believe me. I had to prove it."
As he spoke, he turned the muzzle toward Roylena, and her eyes immediately filled with terror.
"You... what exactly are you trying to do?"
"I told you, I just want to talk. Now I think you can calm down."
With that, Qin Siyang lowered the gun.
"Go on, then. How do I contact that person?"
Roylena glanced at Qin Siyang. Realizing that he truly had no intention of killing her, she had no choice but to answer his question.
"I don't know who that person is. Another friend told me he could help me register my Sequence. All I know is that he's a regular in the Aixico Virtual Chatroom. If you want to find him, just keep hanging around there."
"Then how do I tell which person he is?"
"Watch carefully in the chatroom, and you'll find him."
Qin Siyang could tell Roylena was withholding details. He smiled. "Watch carefully? I don't have that much time. Would it work if I asked, 'Who can help me the way they helped Roylena?'"
Roylena gritted her teeth in anger.
"Enter the chatroom eight times, and that person will approach you himself."
"Good. Then what?"
"Then give him your name and personal information, and tell him which Sequence you want to pretend to have. He'll help you pass the Sequence Ability Management Bureau's registration assessment."
"I don't need to go to the Sequence Ability Management Bureau myself?"
"You do. Just go at the time he tells you and collect your certificate as a registered Sequence Ability User."
"So I can skip the assessment entirely?"
"Yes, you can skip the assessment."
Qin Siyang went over Roylena's words in his head and found no major problems.
"I've told you everything you wanted to know. Can you give me back my gun now?"
Qin Siyang looked up at Roylena and shook his head.
"No?! Then what else do you want before you'll give it back?!"
Every officer in the Police Bureau had their own service weapon.
Each gun had a unique serial number, and they were frequently collected for routine inspections to check for wear and deterioration.
Anyone who failed to turn in their gun would be identified immediately.
Losing a gun was a very serious incident. At the very least, the officer would be suspended pending an investigation. If that gun was used in a serious crime, the officer who lost it would certainly be dismissed.
Roylena had forged her Sequence to join the Police Bureau, which showed how badly she needed this job. She couldn't allow Qin Siyang to ruin everything she had worked for.
"You answered my questions because I knew your secret. To keep me from exposing it, you had to tell me about forging a Sequence."
"But I took this gun from you when you tried to kill me. Answering those questions doesn't cover that."
Qin Siyang smiled. "Getting your gun back will cost you extra."
"Tell me, what do you want me to do?!"
Qin Siyang had already driven Roylena close to a breakdown.
She hadn't expected him to be so difficult to handle. Throughout this conversation, she had been at a disadvantage, unable to take control.
"Tell me your real Sequence."
"Dream on!" Roylena trembled with rage. Beneath the dim starlight, she resembled a golden lion, radiating murderous intent.
"I'm a man of my word. You answered my questions, so I can promise not to tell anyone else that you forged your Sequence."
"But you can forget about ever getting this gun back. With it, killing people will be much easier for me."
"Except-"
"I might need you to take the blame for me."
"You! You bastard! I never did anything to you! Why can't you leave me alone?!"
"Your real Sequence. Tell me, and I'll give you the gun."
"It took everything I had to become an officer in the Police Bureau! Do you know how much I went through? I even gave up my chastity for it!"
"Your real Sequence."
"You heartless demon! Will you only be satisfied once you've destroyed me?!"
"Sequence."
No matter how wildly Roylena ranted and complained, Qin Siyang only repeated his question coldly.
He used fewer and fewer words, a sign that his patience was nearly exhausted.
"Roylena. If the next thing you say isn't your Sequence, I'm leaving immediately. I guarantee that your low-grade scent-tracking tool will never find so much as a trace of me."
Roylena's green eyes were bloodshot from her frenzy, making them look particularly frightening in the dark woods.
Qin Siyang, his face concealed, stood opposite her like a spectator, showing no hint of emotion.
If his chest hadn't risen and fallen with his breathing, someone might have mistaken him for a strange human-shaped sculpture.
