Qin Siyang said to Wen Shu, "You and Grandmother can rest on the chairs in the lobby for a bit. I'll take Edward upstairs and sort out his room, then come back down for you."
Wen Shu nodded gently. "All right."
Qin Siyang extended a hand toward Edward. "Come on, let's go upstairs."
The two entered the elevator, and Edward felt uneasy.
He said, "Qin Siyang, I don't think thirty silver coins a month in rent is a small sum. I should pay it myself."
Qin Siyang asked, "Edward, do you have a way to earn money?"
"Uh, I earn a few silver coins by hunting gods."
"Anything else?"
"Anything else... no, nothing else."
"Earning money just by hunting gods is too slow." Qin Siyang shook his head.
He had risked his life hunting several Ghost-Faced Herons himself, only to receive a few hundred silver coins.
Though the rewards for the Corrosive Black Centipede and Thunder Snow Wolf had been greater, those had been windfalls that could only come through luck.
Edward had secured a place at Nanrong University through his father's position. His God-Hunting Points probably weren't all that high-at least, he hadn't reached the five-thousand-point minimum for special admission.
By that reckoning, Edward's silver coins probably wouldn't last very long either.
"In that case, is Governor Jonathan paying for your accommodation?"
"Yes."
"Then let me pay your rent. Don't pay it yourself."
Edward paused in surprise. "I'm here to study, not work. Of course I don't have much income."
"Besides, according to your Huaguo traditions, aren't parents supposed to cover living expenses and accommodation when their children study away from home? Why do you seem to think... there's something unusual about that?"
Qin Siyang shook his head. "It's not that I think parents paying those expenses is unusual.
