Sengoku ordered the Admirals to kill Whitebeard and recast the execution as a plan to end his era, while Hawkins suspected a greater crisis was unfolding; the chapter ended with Akainu punching Whitebeard in the chest.

  • Marco pinned Ace down and told him Whitebeard wanted him to inherit the Whitebeard Pirates and carry on his will.
  • Ace accepted Marco’s words and led the gathered pirates through the opening Whitebeard had made, toward the waiting ships.
  • Sengoku ordered Sakazuki, Kuzan, and Borsalino to stop holding back and kill Whitebeard, then presented the battle as a plan to bring down the world’s strongest pirate.

  • Blackbeard tried to reveal a fourth faction involved in the Impel Down invasion, but Sengoku knocked him unconscious before he could name it.
  • Sengoku learned that Zephyr and the Neo Navy had attacked the Red Line, destroyed more than half of Mary Geoise, and caused countless Celestial Dragon casualties.

Ch. 389Twilight of the Gods

Kizaru surveyed the devastation at Mary Geoise as the World Government tried to suppress news of the attack, but the deaths of Celestial Dragons and Whitebeard’s final words helped ignite uprisings and a new wave of voyages. A month later, the surviving Neo Navy reached the East Blue, where dying Zephyr wanted to visit Raven Port and Fujitora and Smoker considered what to do next.

  • Kizaru found Binz’s charred body and realized Mary Geoise’s destruction would further destabilize the world.
  • The Five Elders reported to Imu that Zephyr and several Neo Navy officers had escaped, and Imu ordered them to suppress news and quell the unrest.

  • Gawain arrived and allowed Smoker to bury Zephyr in the wheat field, where he would overlook Raven Port.
  • Fujitora joined Gawain’s ranks, and Smoker knelt before Gawain and asked to come aboard.

Ch. 391Ah Ee Yah Ee Yah

  • Smoker opened the camp gates and found the guards intensely pumping iron; when he returned, they grabbed him and dragged him inside.
  • Smoker drew his Jitte to challenge the guards, who greeted his aggression with excitement.

Ch. 392Captain, I Want to Get Stronger!

  • Britannia’s guards attacked Smoker with techniques from the Six Powers, which they said Lord Gawain had made part of recruit training.
  • Smoker defeated the guards with his smoke and Haki, then faced Bevel, who explained Gawain’s understanding of Smoker’s character and assessed his strength as upper Silver Rank.
  • Bevel revealed that Issho, Kuro, and Akin had reached the Legendary realm, prompting Smoker to challenge him.
  • Bevel used his Door-Door Fruit to evade Smoker’s attack and place a Knight Sword against his shoulder, then Smoker asked for special training to become a stronger support for Gawain.
  • Fujitora listened to townspeople describe hopeful new beginnings and considered how peaceful Britannia was as he traveled through it.

Ch. 393Energy

Fujitora witnessed Smoker become consumed by Gawain’s crew’s intense training, while Gawain learned from Sentomaru that Pluton’s greatest obstacle was its energy source. Gawain asked Sentomaru to arrange a meeting with Vegapunk and set him free, leaving Sentomaru inclined to bring Vegapunk to Britannia.

  • Fujitora saw Smoker training enthusiastically with Gawain’s crew and hurried away, worried their obsession with training would spread to him.
  • Sentomaru told Gawain and Kuro that Vegapunk had inferred their plan to build Pluton and warned that it required an immense energy source.
  • Gawain demonstrated his control of ley-line energy but explained that he could not use it to power attacks beyond Britannia or safely supply Pluton.
  • Gawain asked Sentomaru to contact Vegapunk and arrange a meeting, then had Franky unlock Sentomaru’s shackles.
  • Sentomaru accepted his freedom and agreed to pass Gawain’s message to Vegapunk.

Ch. 394The World's Number One Martial Arts Tournament!

Gawain decided to use the third Martial Arts Tournament to find an opponent who could help him reach Mythical strength and challenge Uranus, with an Eternal Pose to Laugh Tale as bait. Meanwhile, Buena Festa recruited Douglas Bullet to take control of the tournament, but Bullet insisted that the Float-Float Fruit was not a grand enough prize.

  • Gawain told Kuro they would continue building Pluton and decided that he needed a powerful rival to help him break beyond humanity and face an Ancient Weapon.
  • Gawain proposed using an Eternal Pose to Laugh Tale to draw powerful fighters to the third Martial Arts Tournament and revealed that Bullet had it.
  • Buena Festa recognized Bullet as a powerful fugitive from Impel Down and persuaded him to join forces by arguing they both wanted to surpass the Pirate King.
  • Buena Festa proposed taking control of the Martial Arts Tournament and named the Float-Float Fruit as its prize, but Bullet said it would not attract the strongest villains and that he had a better prize.

Ch. 395Such Joy Here, No Thought of Revolution!

Buena Festa learned that Bullet had an Eternal Pose pointing to Raftel, while Sabo and Dragon discussed the Revolutionary Army’s campaign, Impel Down’s fall, and the danger surrounding Vegapunk and Knight Gawain. • Sabo gathered information from Koala and sailed to Britannia to secretly rescue Ivankov.
  • Vegapunk told Dragon that Gawain may have the Pluton Blueprint and explained his conflict with the World Government, prompting Dragon to consider using the Ancient Weapon against it.
  • Sentomaru found Ivankov at a popular okama bar in Britannia, where Ivankov urged him to dance.

Ch. 396Bad Luck for Him (Third Blind Date Round!)

Ivankov chose to remain in Britannia and explore its society with Sentomaru, convinced that Gawain’s rule had made it a promising future. Half a month later, Sabo entered the country on a mission and met the blind Fujitora at a casino, where Fujitora invited him for a drink.

  • Ivankov explained to Sentomaru how Britannia’s equality, stability, and prosperity had changed its people, then decided to stay and witness its future.

  • Ivankov, Inazuma, and Sentomaru set out to tour Britannia, while Gawain left them alone and Smoker continued serving as a kingdom guard.
  • Half a month later, Sabo secretly entered Britannia, and Smoker alerted Bevel, who noted that Issho was in Pearl Harbor.
  • Sabo found Fujitora gambling at a casino, warned him about his losing hand, and gave him money before trying to leave.
  • Fujitora caught Sabo’s hand and invited him to have a drink.

Ch. 397The True Soul of the Neo Navy

Sabo met Fujitora in Britannia, learned that Gawain had shaped the Neo Navy’s resolve, and followed Fujitora toward Ivankov’s bar. Meanwhile, Gawain received news of Sabo’s arrival and learned that the World Government was developing a Seraphim using his genes as its template.

  • Sabo recognized the blind man as Fujitora, and Fujitora showed him a photograph of Ivankov safe at his bar in Britannia.
  • Fujitora told Sabo that Gawain’s influence had helped forge the Neo Navy’s will and that Zephyr had praised Dragon’s convictions before his death.
  • Fujitora urged Sabo to visit Raven Port and then led him through the night toward Ivankov’s bar, prompting Sabo to follow and consider Britannia for himself.
  • Gawain learned from a report that Fujitora and Sabo had left Pearl Harbor together, while Kuro updated him on pirate crews near Britannia and Lucci’s promotion to CP0.
  • Kuro revealed that the World Government had restarted the Seraphim project and listed S-Dragon among the biological weapons; Gawain realized it had been made using his genes.

Ch. 398The Descendant of Demons Strikes!

Gawain discussed the World Government’s potential Seraphim and Britannia’s future power with Kuro, while Sabo toured Britannia with Fujitora and considered whether its prosperity could endure. Their peaceful stay ended when Bullet attacked Seagull Port and seized Smoker, demanding to meet Gawain.

  • Gawain told Kuro that the World Government had little time to interfere and that he intended to gain enough strength to stand against an Ancient Weapon.
  • Fujitora showed Sabo Britannia’s relief efforts and work for the poor, leading Sabo to recognize the kingdom’s prosperity while warning that it depended on Gawain’s strength.
  • Sabo learned Ivankov and Inazuma had left to travel around Britannia, then stayed near the port with Fujitora.
  • An alarm sounded at Seagull Port, and Smoker reported a strange vessel before discovering it was a submarine.
  • Bullet emerged, overpowered Smoker, and demanded that Gawain come to negotiate or face a fight through Britannia.

Ch. 399Large Bullet

Douglas Bullet invaded Britannia and formed a colossal giant from the harbor, but Fujitora used his Press-Press Fruit to make it float and stop its devastating punch. Bullet coated the giant in Armament Haki and sent it crashing down, leaving Sabo and Fujitora in danger until Gawain arrived.

  • Smoker struck Bullet with his Jitte, but Bullet hurled him into the harbor and dismissed him as no threat.
  • Bullet sent Buena Festa away in a submarine, then used his Merge-Merge Fruit to combine the harbor into a giant thousands of meters tall.
  • Sabo prepared to stop Bullet's attack from killing civilians, but Fujitora intervened and used his gravity powers to make the giant float.
  • Bullet covered the giant in Armament Haki, overcame Fujitora's ability, and sent it plummeting toward Sabo and Fujitora.
  • Gawain stepped through a portal and looked up at the falling giant, calling it a fine target.

Ch. 400After all, I'm Not Some Kind of Demon!

Gawain defeated Bullet with a single sword strike and spared his life after Buena Festa offered to repay the damage to the harbor. As Sabo tried to leave Britannia, Gawain called him out and Fujitora appeared beside him.

  • Gawain drew Kansei Masamune, and his Conqueror's Haki stunned Sabo and Fujitora as they watched him prepare to strike.
  • Gawain cut through Bullet's giant armor and wounded him so severely that he lost consciousness after crashing to the ground.
  • Smoker reported that the harbor had been evacuated but suffered extensive damage, and Buena Festa stood between Gawain and Bullet to bargain for Bullet's life.
  • Gawain agreed to spare Bullet and ordered Buena Festa to work in Britannia until he repaid the harbor's losses.
  • Sabo tried to slip away, but Gawain warned him to obey Britannia's laws, while Fujitora appeared beside Gawain through a teleportation portal.

Ch. 401A Man's Romance

Sabo realized that Fujitora had chosen Gawain’s crew, while Bullet and Buena Festa accepted a deal that brought them into Gawain’s service. Gawain planned how to use the Float-Float Fruit and welcomed Tesoro’s pledge, and Bullet declared he would repay his debt once he surpassed Gawain.

  • Sabo concluded that Fujitora had already committed himself to Gawain’s ship and abandoned his attempt to recruit him for the Revolutionary Army.
  • Buena Festa explained to the recovering Bullet that he had given Gawain the Float-Float Fruit and Eternal Pose, and that Gawain’s tournament could help Bullet pursue his ambition.
  • Bullet accepted working for Gawain, and he and Buena Festa began to reconcile after Bullet admitted he would have left Festa behind in the same situation.
  • Gawain decided the Float-Float Fruit should go to a reliable companion and recognized the preserved head Tesoro sent as the Celestial Dragon who had enslaved Tesoro’s beloved.
  • Gawain offered Tesoro a place among the Knights of the Round Table and the vacant Minister of Finance post in Britannia.
  • Bullet met Gawain and agreed to the deal, declaring that his debt would end when he surpassed Gawain.
