Three days later, Jiraiya finished his sentence and emerged from the Detention Room with a face full of stubble.
With his vacant eyes and thoroughly disheveled appearance, anyone who didn't know better would have thought he'd suffered some inhuman torture inside.
"Didn't I already give in to you? Why did you keep tormenting me, you brat?!"
The moment he left the Detention Room, Jiraiya roared his accusations at Shinichi.
No wonder he was so indignant. For the past three days, he hadn't eaten or slept properly. Shinichi had enjoyed lavish meals almost every time, devouring them right in front of him while leaving him to chew soldier pills with only the aroma of food for company.
And that wasn't all. Every night, just as it was time for bed, a certain someone would get the sudden urge to drag him into a wild singing session in the Detention Room. He didn't have to sing, but he had to listen. Shinichi's cracked, grating voice had given him nightmares for several nights running.
Who knew where the brat found all that energy? As if the nighttime singing weren't enough, he had Taro and the other youngsters take turns asking Jiraiya for taijutsu instruction during the day, supposedly so a senior could guide his juniors. In short, refusal wasn't an option. If he dared refuse, the nighttime singing sessions would double in length!
In just three days, Jiraiya had lost a noticeable amount of weight from all that torment.
"What are you talking about? I was worried you'd get bored in solitary confinement, so I went out of my way to find you some entertainment!"
Shinichi smiled. "Setting the facts aside, were you really bored these past few days?"
