Background / History

Kakashi is Sakumo’s son and Shinichi’s younger brother through adoption. Sakumo brought Shinichi home from a battlefield, and the brothers remained close despite the difference between Kakashi’s celebrated talent and Shinichi’s initially mediocre reputation. After Sakumo’s death, Shinichi handled most of Kakashi’s everyday needs and became almost a parental figure to him 1 2.

By the opening, three years after the Nine-Tails’ attack, Kakashi has lost Sakumo, Obito, Rin, Minato, and Minato’s wife, Kushina. He spends nearly all his time outside missions alone at home.
