When Chen Ye reached the mall entrance, he found several vehicles parked outside.

There were modified off-road vehicles, sedans, and even a bus.

Chen Ye recognized them. They all belonged to the convoy.

Keeping a vehicle running in the apocalypse was a troublesome business.

It made no difference whether it ran on electricity or gasoline.

Refueling or charging it was a major hassle either way.

He had just seen two off-road vehicles drive farther ahead in search of a gas station.

Since escaping Jiang City, Chen Ye had seen plenty of luxury cars along the way. Many were models he had only ever seen online, yet even those had been abandoned by the roadside.

Survivors on the road had tried to drive those cars away, too.

But reality was a far cry from the movies.

Most of those cars had been abandoned by the roadside because they had run out of fuel.

That was also one reason so many people in the convoy migrated on bicycles.

Ordinary people had a hard time gathering supplies.

Chen Ye immediately spotted his own tricycle parked outside the supermarket.

His belongings were still in its cargo bed.

When he had emptied his backpack earlier, he had taken everything out. Now it was all scattered across the cargo bed.

It looked like that bastard and bitch had come to the supermarket, too.

The mall looked fairly large. The four o'clock sunlight shed a little light on the supermarket entrance, but the interior was pitch-black, making it impossible to see what was inside.

With so many people inside, it should have been bustling. At the very least, there should have been some noise.

Instead, it was unnaturally quiet.

Chen Ye decided to look around near the entrance and try his luck at gathering some supplies.

Without a little willingness to take risks in an apocalypse like this, he would have starved long ago.

As for that bastard and bitch, he certainly wasn't going to let them leave this place alive.

But gathering supplies was the priority right now.

Convoy second law: gather as many supplies as possible!!!

In the apocalypse, supplies were everything!

He emptied the supplies out of his backpack and put it back on.

Crouching low, Chen Ye slowly approached the supermarket entrance, holding his hand crossbow as he glanced warily from side to side.

At the first sign of anything wrong, he would turn and run.

As he ventured farther inside, Chen Ye soon discovered a flaw in his plan.

This supermarket was much larger than he had imagined.

And the shelves near the entrance were almost completely empty.

Only the shelves a little farther in still held a few products.

Not far from Chen Ye, two figures moved between the shelves, constantly grabbing things and stuffing them into their bags.

Chen Ye raised his hand crossbow slightly, then lowered it again.

Those two weren't that bastard and bitch, and he had no grudge against them. With so many supplies here, they couldn't carry away much anyway.

There was plenty more nearby. There was no need to do something that stupid!

Chen Ye slowed his steps and crept deeper into the supermarket.

The food section was just ahead.

Chen Ye crouched as he approached and discovered several figures there.

When they saw Chen Ye coming, they hurriedly gestured for him to be quiet.

Before Chen Ye could react, a sensation swept over him that made every hair on his body stand on end.

That feeling again.

Chen Ye saw a girl prowling between the shelves ahead, murmuring something under her breath.

Aside from the exceptionally tall shelves in warehouse-style supermarkets, shelves in ordinary supermarkets were generally about 2.2 meters high.

Yet half the girl's body rose above those shelves.

Judging by that, she had to be over three meters tall.

No normal human could possibly be that tall.

There was only one possibility.

This girl was a supernatural horror!!!

The girl's disheveled hair completely obscured her face. She wore a white dress, and her body swayed like a puppet.

The unnaturally tall girl held an enormous pair of scissors.

The scissors kept opening and closing in her hands, making a chilling sound.

"Where are you?~~~"

"Where are you?~~~~ Come out. Let's play together!"

The girl murmured those words in a drawn-out, eerie voice, as though talking to herself-or to little mice hiding in the darkness.

Only then did Chen Ye understand why those people had gestured for him to stay quiet.

A bead of cold sweat slid down Chen Ye's forehead.

He had only just escaped the Paper-Crying Child, and now he had run into the White-Clad Scissor Woman.

Chen Ye felt as though his heart was about to leap out of his chest.

The Scissor Woman rounded a row of shelves and slowly turned around.

Still crouching, Chen Ye slowly moved out of the Scissor Woman's line of sight and slipped around to the other side.

Only then did Chen Ye discover just how many people were in the food section.

But he saw no sign of the woman in yoga pants or Qiangzi.

He did spot the burly man there. The sight of that enormous body trying so hard to curl up small was almost comical, and his expression looked a little dim-witted.

At the moment, though, the burly man's face was tense, too.

Seriously?

You're that big, and you're scared of supernatural horrors too?

How could you be scared of them?

The Scissor Woman seemed to sense something. She suddenly stopped, and her hair-covered head turned toward Chen Ye.

Two scarlet eyes peered their way from beneath her long hair.

Everyone froze.

It was as though a paralysis spell had been cast over them. Tension filled the air, and cold sweat spread across their foreheads!

Chen Ye could practically feel time crawling by, every second as long as a year.

If the Scissor Woman discovered them, everyone-including him-would die.

Fortunately, the Scissor Woman finally moved again, walking forward mechanically.

Everyone heaved a sigh of relief, then resumed their game of hide-and-seek with the Scissor Woman.

Chen Ye thought it over. They couldn't keep this up forever.

Moving quietly, Chen Ye picked up a tub of beef noodles and slipped it into his bag.

Seeing this, the others began following his example.

Some had brought woven plastic sacks, while others carried backpacks.

As they carefully loaded their bags, every one of them kept their eyes fixed nervously on the Scissor Woman.

Chen Ye followed behind them.

They had all survived the apocalypse this long, so none of them drew the Scissor Woman's attention.

Just as Chen Ye was happily filling his bag,

he suddenly bumped into the back of the survivor ahead.

He looked up and saw that everyone had stopped, staring ahead in terror.

A sinister child of seven or eight stood blocking their path.

That white skin, like a corpse three days dead; those unnaturally flushed cheeks; those venomous eyes.

This was... the Paper-Crying Child!

He had followed him here!

"Aah~~~~"

A scream shattered the supermarket's silence.

That scream awakened something sinister in the darkness.

The White-Clad Scissor Woman, over three meters tall, stiffly turned her head toward them.

A piercing chill instantly swept over Chen Ye, leaving his hands and feet faintly numb.

Snip, snip!~~~

The sound of scissors echoed through the supermarket.

"Hehe... so this is where you were! Want to play together?"

The Scissor Woman strode toward them, knocking over several shelves.

"Oh god!"

"Run! I don't want to die yet!"

Chen Ye snatched up his backpack and turned to flee.

Before he could even turn around, he saw an enormous pair of scissors slice the two survivors in front of him cleanly into upper and lower halves.

The two survivors seemed not to have realized what had happened yet. Their upper bodies fell to the floor, and they continued crawling and struggling with their hands as blood pooled beneath them.

"Hehe... wonderful. This is so much fun!"

"I want to play more!"

The scissors rose again.

The next second, another survivor, wearing a suit and gold-rimmed glasses, was cut in half at the waist.

"Fuck it! I'm going all out!"

A furious roar rang out!

An explosive aura filled the entire supermarket.

Before Chen Ye's eyes, the two-meter-tall muscular brute swelled like an inflating balloon. In the blink of an eye, he became a giant who rivaled the Scissor Woman.

He, too, stood three meters tall, and every bulging muscle looked like a lump of iron.

His imposing presence was no weaker than the Scissor Woman's-if anything, it was stronger.

Was this... a Sequence Transcendent?
