Shen Yue set down his chopsticks, his brows furrowing slightly as his gaze swept twice between Shen Fei and Shen Kun.

He sat just below Shen Hong and had been peeling a walnut with his head lowered. At the commotion, he looked up, a few walnut crumbs still clinging to the corner of his mouth.

He glanced at Shen Fei, then at Shen Kun. His lips moved as though he wanted to say something, but no words came out. He merely set the walnut on the table, brushed the crumbs from his hands, and lifted his wine cup for a sip, his gaze never leaving Shen Fei.

Of course he knew that his father had grown increasingly cold toward his eldest legitimate son lately, and that Shen Fei was hardly allowed anywhere near the family's affairs anymore.
