Background / History

Illness and the Sacred Family’s Control

Ning’er is the daughter of Xiao Yunfeng, patriarch of the Winged Dragon Family. After her mother’s death, her father’s responsibilities left him little time with her; he later associates this absence with her increasingly cold, distant temperament. Her family’s decline also led her to withdraw from her childhood friend Ye Ziyun out of inferiority 16 67.

The Sacred Family took control of most of the Winged Dragon Family’s businesses and pressured Ning’er to marry Shen Fei. Her severe Cold Affliction restricted her cultivation, leaving her with little apparent means of resisting the arrangement 12.

Meeting Xiao Tianhao

In Blood Alley, Ning’er considers buying Crimson Blood Fox blood despite Uncle Zhang’s warning that its violent heat could worsen her illness. She accepts Tianhao’s offer to refine it and purchases an entire barrel. The purified essence temporarily relieves her chill; in gratitude, she pays him and gives him her personal Winged Dragon Family token 5.

She later delivers twelve pieces of cold jade marrow as thanks from her father. Tianhao gives her the Wind Thunder Dragon God Art after explaining that her previous cultivation method contributed to her illness. The new art, refined blood essence, and body-tempering powder ultimately cure her condition 8 12.

Restoring the Winged Dragon Family

Ning’er openly refuses to marry Shen Fei and challenges Elder Xiao Yi for helping outsiders threaten his own family. Revealing her Four-Star Bronze cultivation changes the elders’ assessment of her value, while her father firmly supports her refusal. The Sacred Family responds by further suppressing the family’s businesses 19.

Relationship and Shared Training

Ning’er’s closeness to Tianhao develops through shared meals, cultivation, and work on the pill business. Seeing him laughing with Huyan Lanruo leads her to withdraw in jealousy, but they reconcile, and she eventually welcomes Lanruo as a sister-like companion 23 24 42.

After Tianhao returns from several months away, their relationship receives Xiao Yunfeng’s approval. Tianhao then reveals his otherworldly origins and the Profound Space Pearl. Ning’er promises to protect the secret and begins training in its Trial Secret Realm 31 32.

Dark Guild Abduction and Rescue

Three Dark Guild members ambush Ning’er while she walks home alone. A speed-type Black Gold Demon Spirit Master knocks her unconscious before she can merge with her demon spirit. Ghost Fiend’s group uses her as a hostage to force Tianhao into a mountain ambush 43 44.

Nie Li rescues her with a Black Gold speed scroll while Tianhao holds the attackers’ attention, then returns her to the Winged Dragon Family. She suffers no serious injury but worries that needing rescue makes her a burden. Tianhao reassures her and equips her with Black Gold-grade armor and escape scrolls 45 46 47.

Defender of Glory City and Traveling Companion

During the attack on the City Lord’s Mansion, Ning’er fights a Black Gold Dark Guild opponent with lightning techniques and close combat. After Tianhao kills that opponent, she joins Ye Ziyun’s battle 54 55.

She later travels with Tianhao, Lanruo, and Yang Xin, developing coordinated tactics against powerful demon beasts. At Black Spring, she comprehends the Lightning Law. During subsequent fighting, the three women jointly pressure Two-Star Legend Ghost Fiend, and Ning’er later kills Black Gold enemies while disrupting the Witch-Ghost Family’s attempts to form an array 64 72 78 79 84.

Nine-Layer Deathlands and Sect Life

In the Nine-Layer Deathlands, Ning’er acquires the Heavenly Silkworm Illusion Spirit Sash and meets Xiao Yu, who helps her group escape danger. The expedition takes Tianhao’s companions as far as the seventh layer and raises Ning’er to Two-Star Legend 89 91 94.

During the disciple-selection trials, her Law Power extends over six feet in the Reflection Ball test. She then accompanies Tianhao’s group to the Black Flame Tower’s fifth floor to cultivate 97.

After departing for the Dragon Ruins Realm, she studies at the Heavenly Sound Divine Sect. She and Lanruo decline a five-month stay in the Heavenly Music Secret Realm because it would conflict with an exchange gathering where they expect to see Tianhao; neither uses the sect’s cultivation methods or martial techniques, reducing the realm’s value to them 105 118.
