The Moon Emperor acted as though she had not heard the man's pleas. Her blade rose and fell, chopping him in two as easily as slicing melons and vegetables, while she muttered to herself.
"Thirty-eight!"
Indeed, this was the thirty-eighth enemy the Moon Emperor had slain. Both sides stared in stunned disbelief, as though all feeling had deserted them.
"This woman is chillingly ruthless, terrifying beyond belief. She's like a god of slaughter descended upon us."
"Those thirty-eight men were nothing but clay chickens and pottery dogs before her-not worth a single blow."
"I wonder who Wang Lie and the others will send next. Those burly men they found earlier were simply sent to their deaths."
"Well, not entirely for nothing. At least that woman is panting like an ox now. Maybe the next one can cut her down."
"As long as they don't send us out there, who cares about the rest?"
"Exactly. All we need to do is watch from atop the walls."

The members of the various factions discussed it freely, without a trace of worry on their faces. The smaller factions and rogue cultivators, however, were another matter.
