He pulled up the layout of Nakajima Ken's house and marked four points on the virtual projection.

"Place them discreetly, and make sure they completely cover the courtyard and the surrounding five meters. Once they're in place, activate standby mode and wait for my signal. Understood?"

"Understood!"

Nako took the four metal discs without hesitation. They felt cold and heavy in her hands.

She asked no questions and showed no hesitation. Months of training had drilled that response into her bones.

Cheng added, "The target is a special jōnin. At this hour, he's probably at home drowning his sorrows or writing his 'repentance report,' but he won't have let his guard down. Be careful."

"Yes!"

Nako nodded again, then quietly left through another passage out of the base, her figure seeming to melt into the shadows.

Uchiha Makoto watched her disappear and tapped his fingers against the tabletop.

Just in case, he had taken all four prototypes out of storage.

In theory, one would have been enough to cover Nakajima Ken's modest courtyard, but this was the first field test of this "must-have product for home, travel, murder, and silencing witnesses." A few extra layers of insurance couldn't hurt.

With four Silent Veils overlapping, the effect should have been enough to temporarily turn the place into a "blind spot" in Konoha's sensory network, or a temporarily screened-off "soundproof room."

A few hours later, the night deepened.

Nako sent back an encrypted message: "Deployment complete. All four units are in position and on standby."

Uchiha Makoto changed into a close-fitting, dark gray combat outfit without any markings and threw an equally unremarkable cloak over it.

"A jonin..." He flexed his wrists. "A decent opponent for a field test..."

He left the thought unfinished, but a cold smile curved his lips.
