The cage was considerably larger than the previous glass one, but its construction looked more intricate and... dangerous.
Kakuzu's heart sank. He had a bad feeling about this.
Then Uchiha Makoto got to work.
First, he deactivated some of the glass cage's sealing chains. Then he opened its door, used chakra tentacles to "lift" the utterly drained Kakuzu out, and stuffed him into the new black cage.
Click.
The cage door shut and locked automatically, its runes lighting up one after another with an eerie blue glow.
Once that was done, Uchiha Makoto dusted off his hands as though he had finished some trivial chore.
Without so much as another glance at Kakuzu, he left with the other three, never looking back.
Before leaving, Nako even helpfully switched off the lights, leaving only the faint blue glow of the cage's runes to illuminate Kakuzu's bewildered, apprehensive face.
They left?
They just left like that?
Without even posting a guard?
Kakuzu froze for a moment, then a surge of wild joy rose within him!
A heaven-sent opportunity!
That brat must think his new cell is foolproof, so he let his guard down!
Those sealing chains were troublesome, but after a whole day, I had already figured out most of their rune patterns. Another half day, and I could have broken free!
Now he has put me in a new cage, and the chains are gone. This is my best chance to escape!
How could some lousy cage possibly hold me, Kakuzu!
He immediately began mobilizing the chakra remaining in his body, cautiously probing the new cage.
Yet the instant thoughts of "breaking free" and "escaping" formed in his mind...
Something suddenly changed!
The eerie blue runes that had been flowing slowly across the black cage's inner walls suddenly blazed with light!
