Information flooded in.
His legs began heating up again, even hotter this time.
His muscles swelled, his bones strengthened, and his tendons stretched.
A few seconds later, the heat faded.
Uchiha Makoto felt that his legs had changed.
He tried jumping.
With one light hop, he rose two meters off the ground.
He landed and jumped again.
Three meters off the ground.
And controlling them had become easier, too.
"Brother Cheng..." Obito watched him. "What are you doing?"
"Warming up my feet so I can use Moonwalk better."
This manifestation had been a success. Obito's imagination had taken Moonwalk to another level.
Obito thought Brother Cheng's Moonwalk should be even more badass than what he had seen.
So the Moonwalk the system gave him was seriously badass.
Uchiha Makoto was thrilled inside.
But his face still wore that same look of "Just the basics. No need to applaud."
"Shisui." He turned to Shisui. "What do you think?"
Shisui said nothing.
He watched Uchiha Makoto with a complicated look in his eyes.
Shock, envy, respect, and a little... adoration.
Yes, adoration.
Shisui Uchiha, the Uchiha's greatest prodigy, had a light in his eyes as he looked at Uchiha Makoto.
The kind of light people had when they saw their idol.
Uchiha Makoto hadn't noticed. He was still playing the master.
Ignoring Shisui's expression, he explained the principles behind Moonwalk.
"Moonwalk actually works on pretty much the same principle as Water Walking."
"You concentrate chakra beneath your feet, then release it in a burst to generate a reaction force. Control it well enough, and you can move through the air."
"That must be hard to control," Shisui said. "The concentration of chakra, the release, the timing-all of it has to be precise down to the millisecond. Even the slightest mistake would mean failure."
"Exactly." Uchiha Makoto nodded.
"Creating your own Taijutsu at six... Brother Cheng, you're even more amazing than I thought."
Uchiha Makoto smiled without saying anything.
What he was thinking was:
Of course I am. I've got a system. Without it, I couldn't create shit.
"All right, that's enough for today," Uchiha Makoto said. "Obito, keep practicing Flowing Iron Block. Shisui, want to join us?"
"Me?" Shisui froze for a moment. "Can I?"
"Of course," Uchiha Makoto said. "We're all Uchiha. We'll improve faster if we train together."
Shisui looked at Uchiha Makoto for a long time.
Then he smiled.
"Okay," he said. "Let's train together."
Uchiha Makoto smiled too, thinking:
Another fine crop to harvest, and a premium one at that.
I wonder if a prodigy's imagination can surpass the limits of those two dead lasts, Obito and Guy.
"Brother Cheng! Brother Cheng! Teach me! Teach me that technique!"
Obito bounced around Uchiha Makoto like a monkey, his eyes shining.
"That one where you step on air! Moonwalk! I want to learn it!"
His racket was giving Uchiha Makoto a headache.
"Stop." He held Obito by the shoulders. "Quit jumping. You're making me dizzy."
"Then teach me!" Obito grabbed his arm. "Brother Cheng, please!"
"I can't." Uchiha Makoto shook his head. "Moonwalk requires a high level of physical fitness and chakra control. You can't learn it yet."
"I can train!" Obito protested indignantly. "I can handle hard work!"
"It's not about hard work." Uchiha Makoto sighed. "It's about your basic physical fitness. Have you mastered Flowing Iron Block yet?"
Obito: "..."
"If you haven't, don't even think about learning Moonwalk," Uchiha Makoto said. "Build a solid foundation first."
Obito wilted.
But only for three seconds.
"Then when can I learn it, Brother Cheng?"
"We'll talk once you've mastered Flowing Iron Block."
"How long will that take?"
"That depends on you."
"Can we make it faster?"
"..."
Uchiha Makoto suspected Obito had been a broken record in his previous life.
Just as he was about to tell Obito to shut up, another voice spoke.
"Brother Cheng, I want to learn it too."
Uchiha Makoto turned.
Shisui stood nearby, watching him with earnest eyes.
"Moonwalk," Shisui said. "Could you teach me?"
Uchiha Makoto paused.
Then he smiled.
"Shisui, you want to learn it too?"
"Yes." Shisui nodded. "That technique is incredible."
"It certainly is," Uchiha Makoto said. "But it's not easy to learn."
He studied Shisui, considering his options.
Shisui Uchiha.
The greatest prodigy in the entire Uchiha clan right now.
He was only five, but his talent was undeniable.
If he learned Moonwalk, how far could he take it?
Uchiha Makoto was a little curious.
"I can teach you," he said. "But on one condition."
"What condition?" Shisui asked.
"You have to improve your physical fitness first," Uchiha Makoto said. "Moonwalk demands a lot of leg strength. You're still young, and your body hasn't developed fully. Forcing yourself to learn it could easily get you hurt."
He remembered the original story.
Shisui had injured himself all over trying to learn the Body Flicker Technique.
Moonwalk was even harder than the Body Flicker Technique.
If Shisui pushed himself that hard again, he might really ruin his body.
That wouldn't do.
Shisui was his new crop to harvest.
He couldn't harvest a crop before it had grown.
"Then how do I improve my physical fitness?" Shisui asked.
"I'm planning to create a new technique," Uchiha Makoto said. "One specifically for strengthening the body."
"A new technique?!" Obito jumped up again. "Brother Cheng, you're going to create a new technique?!"
"Yes." Uchiha Makoto nodded. "Moonwalk demands too much of the body. I need to develop a technique that strengthens it first, or you won't be able to learn it."
"Then once we're stronger, we can learn Moonwalk?" Obito's eyes lit up again.
"You'll barely qualify," Uchiha Makoto said. "But it'll still depend on your chakra control."
"Out of you guys, probably only Guy has the physical fitness for it," Uchiha Makoto said. "But his chakra control isn't good enough. Moonwalk needs precise chakra manipulation, so he can't learn it yet either."
"And you lack both the physical fitness and the chakra control."
Hearing that he was even less qualified than Guy instantly stirred Obito's competitive spirit.
"Brother Cheng, I'll definitely make you see me differently."
Uchiha Makoto ignored Obito's supposed resolve to better himself and instead considered what kind of physical enhancement technique he should come up with.
Plenty of fictional works had techniques like that.
Maybe I should just make one up myself? I'll call it the Physique Enhancement Technique.
