Fine, you're both right.
"Keep going." His face was expressionless. "Practice until you can stand on it."
Obito and Guy pulled long faces and tried again.
Once, twice, three times...
Splashes rang out endlessly across the river, as though someone were dropping dumplings into a pot.
Uchiha Makoto grew bored watching them. He simply sat cross-legged on the water and began lecturing them while continuing to train their chakra control.
"While you practice, I'll explain chakra nature transformation."
Obito had just climbed out of the water. At those words, his ears immediately pricked up.
"Nature transformation? Makoto, you mean things like fire release and Water Release?"
"Right." Uchiha Makoto nodded. "Chakra has seven basic natures: fire, water, wind, lightning, earth, yin, and yang. The essence of ninjutsu is transforming chakra into these natures, then releasing it."
He paused and glanced at Obito.
"Your fire release, for example, converts chakra into the fire nature. But that's only the first step. More advanced applications involve changing the shape of that nature transformation, like turning a fireball into a fire dragon, or compressing flames into a hotter form."
Obito listened, utterly absorbed, forgetting even to wipe the water off himself.
"Then when can I start learning advanced nature transformation, Makoto?"
"What's the rush?" Uchiha Makoto rolled his eyes at him. "You haven't even mastered basic fire release yet. How many Great Fireball Techniques can you use in a row?"
Obito ducked his head.
"Zero..."
"You haven't even mastered the Great Fireball Technique, and you're already dreaming of advanced techniques?" Uchiha Makoto said irritably. "Get your chakra control down first. You can't even stand steadily on water, and you want to play with fire?"
Obito had no comeback. He could only put his head down and keep practicing water walking.
But Uchiha Makoto's words
