Half an hour later.
Lin Hui drove the RV to the outskirts of the [Abandoned Arsenal] at last.
The place was remote.
He picked up a pair of civilian binoculars dropped by a zombie he had killed and surveyed the area.
Most of the buildings had collapsed, with only a few massive factory buildings still barely standing.
A towering red-brick wall encircled the Arsenal, covered in dead vines, with rusty electrified barbed wire coiled along the top.
Inside the Arsenal, rotting figures wandered aimlessly.
There really are zombies! Lots of them, too!
But I don't seem to see any Tier 2 zombies.
Should I head deeper into the Arsenal?
Just as Lin Hui hesitated.
Suddenly, a cloud of dust rose in his rearview mirror.
Vroom, vroom, vroom!
A barrage of engine roars erupted.
Lin Hui's gaze sharpened, and he quickly checked the rearview mirror.
Eight modified Dirt Bikes emerged from behind a gray Heavy Pickup Truck, spreading out in a fan to surround him like a pack of rabid dogs!
Before long, the bikers had blocked every escape route.
Every one of them carried a machete, a chain, or road spikes.
Two of the men expertly flung road spikes directly in front of the RV, cutting off the road ahead.
Lin Hui sat quietly in the driver's seat, his gaze settling on the Heavy Pickup Truck.
Crude steel plates had been welded onto its exterior, a 7.62 mm vehicle-mounted machine gun sat on its roof, and a blood-red wolf's head emblem had been spray-painted onto its body.
A Lv3 vehicle?
Only level 3 vehicles can have externally mounted weapons...
Lin Hui quickly assessed the situation.
The Heavy Pickup Truck roared to the front of the formation. Its window rolled down, revealing a middle-aged man with a brutish face.
Guo Yong.
A minor leader in the Feral Wolf Guild.
In the old world, he had been a professional thug, imprisoned for intentional assault.
When the global highway survival game began, his misfortune became a blessing, freeing him from prison.
Now.
Guo Yong held a megaphone, wearing the mocking expression of a cat toying with a mouse:
"You in the RV! Listen up!"
"The Feral Wolf Guild has you surrounded!"
"Nice vehicle. I'll take it."
"If you know what's good for you, get your ass out, hand over the keys, and leave your supplies. If I'm in a good mood, I might let you crawl away alive!"
The surrounding bikers sneered, as though the RV already belonged to them.
They hadn't been decent people in the old world, either.
Watching this unfold, Lin Hui felt no panic. Instead, he sneered inwardly.
The Feral Wolf Guild?
I was just wondering how to deal with the zombies inside the Arsenal, and now the cannon fodder has arrived.
Lin Hui spoke calmly to the men outside:
"And if I don't?"
Guo Yong froze for a moment, then threw his head back and laughed as though he had heard the funniest joke in the world.
"Hahaha! You don't? Looks like you still don't understand your situation!"
"Boys! Show him what we've got!"
Clack, clack, clack!
The players on the Dirt Bikes raised their weapons, and some even lit the Molotov cocktails in their hands.
Looking at the weapons pointed at him, Lin Hui wasn't afraid. His smile only grew wider.
"Want to blow out my tires?"
"You think you've got what it takes?"
Just as everyone assumed this easy mark would surrender or drop to his knees and beg, like the players they had encountered before.
VROOOM!!!
The previously motionless black RV suddenly let out a deafening roar!
Lin Hui didn't get out and beg for mercy as Guo Yong had expected.
Instead.
He shifted straight into drive and charged at full speed toward a Dirt Bike directly ahead!
"Holy shit! Is he insane?!"
"He's actually going to run us over?"
The player on that Dirt Bike nearly had his eyes pop out of his head.
But it was already too late to dodge.
CRASH!!!
The grating shriek of tearing metal rang out.
The massive black RV rolled over the road spikes, crushed the Feral Wolf Guild player's vehicle and body, and drove toward the Abandoned Arsenal.
"Fuck!"
Guo Yong glanced at the mangled pulp on the ground and roared:
"After him! Don't let him escape!"
Clearly, he had underestimated Lin Hui's RV.
Lin Hui floored the accelerator, quickly reaching 80 kilometers per hour.
If he hadn't been waiting for the Heavy Pickup Truck behind him, he could have gone even faster.
Behind him.
Guo Yong's face was thunderous inside the Heavy Pickup Truck. He slapped the machine gunner in the truck bed:
"See those tires? Blow those glowing tires apart! I'll show him there's no escape, even if he sprouts wings!"
"Yes!"
The gunner answered, then aimed at the RV's tires.
He pulled the trigger!
Bang, bang, bang!
A dense hail of bullets flew toward it.
Dust billowed everywhere!
But the RV remained unscathed, barely even slowing down.
Lin Hui had reached the Abandoned Arsenal.
The massive iron gate, sturdy enough to withstand a charging zombie horde, crumpled and flew apart like a fragile cracker when he rammed it!
"What... what the fuck kind of vehicle is that?!"
Guo Yong swallowed, greed burning even brighter in his eyes.
"That defense... that power... it has to be mine!"
"Boys! Charge! He can't get away!"
Like sharks scenting blood, the Feral Wolf Guild's convoy followed close behind the RV.
The moment they rushed into the Arsenal, a chilling sight greeted them.
More than a dozen zombies stood inside the Arsenal. Hearing the noise, they all turned toward them at once!
Damn it!
A Feral Wolf Guild player on a Dirt Bike cursed.
They had been going so fast in their pursuit of Lin Hui's RV that they hadn't spared any attention to inspecting the Abandoned Arsenal.
Whoosh!
A zombie had already lunged at him.
"Aah..."
"Guo Yong, save me..."
A bloodcurdling scream rang out.
But under the Agile Zombie's assault.
He didn't even get a chance to pull the trigger before the zombie tackled him.
"We've been set up!" Guo Yong's face darkened.
In that brief moment, the RV had already vanished from sight.
Meanwhile, he and his men were completely surrounded by zombies.
Hmph!
Guo Yong snorted.
They're only Level 1 Zombies. How could they stop my level 3 heavy truck? They're nothing but experience packs!
ROOOAR!!!
A roar that seemed to rise from the depths of hell erupted from a workshop in the Abandoned Arsenal.
Then came a second, and a third...
Those were the excited howls of zombies that had starved for far too long, now catching the scent of fresh flesh.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Heavy footsteps made the ground tremble faintly.
Guo Yong whipped his head toward the sound.
In the next instant, his blood ran cold.
Dozens of ordinary zombies surged out like a tide.
And at the very front of the horde stood a hulking creature nearly three meters tall!
Its muscles bulged like rocks, its skin was a metallic iron-gray, and it actually carried a broken I-beam!
[Target: Strength-Type Zombie (Tier 2)] [Strength: 80] [Defense: 60] [Agility: 15] [Assessment: Its fists can flatten a taxi!]
"T-Tier 2?!"
Guo Yong's voice cracked as he shouted at the driver beside him.
"Retreat! Hurry, retreat!!"
But it was already too late.
The gate they had smashed open was now completely blocked by the Level 1 Zombies pouring out.
"Open fire! Open fire!!" Guo Yong's face filled with despair.
