Vinyl record covers and concert posters lined the walls on either side of the corridor. Warm yellow wall lamps lit the dark wooden paneling.
Hina wore a rose-red women's suit jacket with a white Marine coat draped over her shoulders. She strode briskly down the corridor, her long, pale pink hair lifting slightly behind her.
Occasionally, staff carrying folders passed Hina, nodding in greeting and calling her "Miss Hina."
Hina nodded back, a kraft paper envelope tucked under her arm. Inside were the latest wanted posters, freshly mailed from Marine Headquarters.
She stopped at the end of the corridor. A brass plaque set into the gray metal door bore the words "Kessoku Band."
Knock, knock, knock.
She raised her hand and knocked three times.
The door slid open automatically.
Inside the lounge, a row of dark green leather sofas stood against the wall. A massive LCD screen hung opposite them, with several game consoles from Egghead Island stacked beneath it.
A drum kit and two electric guitars stood in the corner, with a pink guitar-pick lanyard draped over a guitar stand.
Kalifa sat in an armchair, one leg elegantly crossed over the other, leafing through a fashion magazine.
Today, she wore an ivory women's suit, her blond hair falling beside her shoulders.
Perona curled up in the middle of the sofa, hugging a zombie-bear cushion. Her pink twin tails swayed with her fingers' movements. Her gaze was glued to the screen, both thumbs flying over her controller.
Shining sat beside her, relaxed, his back against the sofa. A controller floated in front of him, pressing its buttons "automatically."
Inside his black ball-lightning head, the white arcs marking his facial features formed a lazy expression.
