After casually shooting an armed robber dead on the way, Li Jie took the interns back to the station for lunch. He had barely parked when his phone rang again.
"Fuck, every damn day..."
He glanced at the screen. It was Harleen. Resigned, he answered.
"Doctor, what is it?"
"Sheriff, could you come over to ACE Chemicals?" Harleen sounded breathless. "Poison Ivy got into a bit of a confrontation with their people!"
"Poison Ivy??"
"Uh... that's... Pamela Isley," Harleen answered guiltily. "Poison Ivy is a nickname I gave her..."
"Wasn't her nickname Little Red? No, that's not the point." Li Jie shouted in exasperation, "How did she get out of the hospital??"
"Since there wasn't anything wrong with her vital signs, I told the doctor I was taking her to the station..." Harleen said quietly. "I signed... in your name..."
"Holy shit!!"
Li Jie kicked Zilton and Hunter out of the car and told them to go eat first. Then he turned around and floored it toward the West District.
"Good morning, my Little Red~"
Carrying a paper bag, Harleen Quinzel cheerfully pushed open the door to Pamela Isley's hospital room.
Pamela was propped against the headboard, gazing blankly at the few malnourished ornamental shrubs in the courtyard outside her window. At the sound, she turned her head. Her green eyes looked even deeper in the sunlight, almost inhuman.
"Harleen." She nodded, her voice a little hoarse.
"I brought you some normal breakfast." Harleen set the paper bag on the bedside table. Inside were yogurt and fruit salad, which she considered healthy. "Hospital food is practically another form of assault on life."
"Fruit... salad?"
Poison Ivy didn't look at the food. Something outside the window seemed to have caught her attention.
"They're crying..." she murmured.
"Who?" Harleen followed her
