"A shyster..."

Li Jie muttered as he turned and left the Detention Room. How long those prisoners would spend behind bars depended on the judge.

Of course, sometimes the judge didn't matter. This was Gotham, after all.

He had barely returned to the lobby when he heard several people calling softly, "Raven, run! The sheriff's back!"

To thank the other officers for their efforts while he was away, he had given ten thousand dollars each to everyone directly involved or who had helped keep the news under wraps. The officers who knew nothing about it had each received a thousand dollars to celebrate Raven's safe return.

As a result, every officer in the precinct had become a Raven fan. Not only had they put extra effort into beating up the Magic Troupe members, but whenever the girl showed up at the station, they treated her like a star.

Bastards! I was the one footing the bill!!

Knowing he couldn't catch her, he didn't bother trying. He trudged into his office, disgruntled, only to discover that Raven hadn't run away.

"Hi, Sheriff?"

"Skipping school again?" Li Jie frowned and sat back down in his chair. Out of habit, he opened a drawer, took out a snack box, and tossed it to her. "I know you learn fast, but you'd better not... wait!"

He sprang to his feet, his gaze settling on Raven. She spread her arms and twirled in front of him. "Well? Does it look good?"

She had changed out of her denim outfit and into a thick gray hoodie, with thigh-length shorts and tall boots.

Shorts?!

"Looks pretty good."

Li Jie looked at her expressionlessly, giving her a thumbs-up with his right hand while his left had unconsciously settled on the telephone. "Did you put that outfit together yourself?"
