Their shells were covered in flashing marquee lights, and each mech displayed an enormous bat symbol in its most prominent spot, illuminated by ultra-bright xenon lamps.
It was as though they had draped themselves in all the neon lights of Times Square.
"What is this supposed to be, Alfred?"
"Do you mean... those refreshing color schemes?" A faint trace of amusement seeped through the butler's concerned tone.
"And all that light pollution." Batman's voice sounded as though he had forced it through his throat.
"Oh, Master Bruce, after conducting market research, Mr. Short concluded that children prefer brightly colored, eye-catching toys during both Christmas and New Year promotions. This can effectively improve brand appeal and public image."
Batman offered no response. He merely watched the five mechs below, which looked as though they had just rolled out of a theme parade.
Alfred continued gently, "Furthermore, Mr. Short noted that in actual combat, heavy combat units often serve to absorb damage. Dazzling illumination makes it easier to attract the enemy's attention, thereby offering better protection to allied units. He calls this... tactical visual provocation."
