The crowd surged back like a receding tide. Some refused to move, staying put for a better look, but one glance from Li Jie changed their minds. Seconds later, a Freightliner truck with a fifty-three-foot shipping container fell from the sky like a meteor, abruptly slowing as it neared the ground.
Even so, the instant the Kryptonian girl's boots touched down, the concrete beneath her crumbled. Dust spread out from her feet like a miniature shock wave.
She set the truck down as gently as she could, but its tires still bounced twice when they hit the ground. The container rocked violently, groaning with metal fatigue.
Kara emerged from the dust, water vapor condensing into clouds against her skin. She lightly brushed herself off. Li Jie stepped forward, spreading his arms a little, then suddenly stopped and patted her shoulder instead.

"It was nothing." Kara smiled and counted on her fingers. "Drinking water, canned ready-to-eat food, compressed biscuits, peanut butter, toilet paper, antibiotics, and painkillers. That's everything, about twenty-five tons. Oh, right, and one more..."
