Li Jie stood beside Nygma at the glass windows in the Police Department lobby, watching the long convoy of Bentleys drive out through the Parking Lot gates.

"Ed, don't you think..."

He smacked his lips, unsure how to continue. Bruce Wayne's hair was a little longer than the last time Li Jie had seen him on TV, but it still had that carefully styled, casually tousled look.

With Bob guiding him, he had toured the Police Department, passing through the Duty Room, Interview Room, Temporary Detention Area, and Conference Room. His stride had been steady, with no unnecessary glances around. He was familiar with the layout, naturally stopping before a door to wait for Bob to explain what was inside, then giving a nod.

He had responded to the officers' greetings with impeccable courtesy: handshakes, smiles, an occasional pleasantry. Li Jie had deliberately asked the female officers to pretend to swoon over him-or perhaps they really did-as they offered him gifts, and he had still maintained a perfect balance of warmth and propriety.

All of this fit Bruce Wayne's public image.

Yet something had felt wrong to Li Jie from the moment the man walked in.

Nygma smiled and finished the thought. "Provided... he doesn't know that you know his other identity."

"Ah... exactly!" Li Jie clenched a fist and pumped it, lowering his voice. "That's what I was trying to say. He's Bruce Wayne, but he... isn't Batman. No, I mean, he knows I know his other identity, so he can't pretend I don't know when I actually already know his other identity, right?"
