Li Jie dropped several enormous paper bags onto the desk, and hands immediately reached in from every direction to claim them.
"Me! Me! Mine!"
"Sir, this arrived first thing this morning." Anna handed him a newspaper from beside him. "You'd better take a look... it's a little..."
"Thanks."
Li Jie took the paper. He didn't even need to unfold it to see the enormous front-page headline:
"Hero or monster! Giant Bat invades Phoenix Pharmaceuticals; stolen mystery drug sparks public panic."
Below it was a close-up taken from security footage, showing a blurry, bat-shaped shadow sweeping through a doorway.
"What exactly is protecting us?"-citizens slam GCPD's incompetence.
Oh, fuck you. What the hell does this have to do with GCPD?
Li Jie was about to hurl the newspaper down in anger when he remembered that GCPD probably meant Central Headquarters.

He tossed the paper back to Anna. "Ignore it. It's none of our business. Whatever that thing is, neither of us can handle it."
"Yes, sir." Anna nodded solemnly.
"Ha... if it weren't for us still having no leads on the Dismemberment Case, this would be a perfect day to slack..."

Before Li Jie could finish yawning, the phone in his pocket rang again.
"Fuck, spoke too soon." He answered it, and sure enough, he heard that same voice filtered through a voice changer.
"Black Mask is gathering more and more men. He may be planning something big. I'll contact you again once I know the target."
"Where are they setting out from... hello? Hello?"
